On 5 March 2012 Vladimir Gridiushko, the General Director of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus, signed the document of founding the branch of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in Novopolotsk. The tripartite agreement between the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre, Novopolotsk Executive Committee headed by Natalia Kochanova, and Naftan headed by Vladimir Tretiakov, stipulates the development of cooperation in organization of tour of separate artists as well as guest performance of opera and ballet productions of the Bolshoi Theatre. Performances and concerts will be shown every month at different venues of the town.
The first branch of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus was founded in December 2011 in Mogilev. Giselle, Don Quixote, Evening of Old Romance and Concert of Vocal Music with the participation of the string quintet Serenada have been presented at the Regional Palace of Culture since then.
Along with such major projects as the Evenings of the Bolshoi Theatre at the Radziwills’ Palace, Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum, Big New Year Ball, which have already become traditional, the aforementioned project of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre is an integral part of its educational and social mission. Expanding the geography of the tours of the leading artists, the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus intends to present the treasures of the world classical music to the audience all over the country, to increase the audience, to find more opportunities for aesthetic education of the youth and familiarization of the audience with high art.
