Nino Samadashvili as Laurencia

On 24 November the leading soloist of the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre will appear in Minsk.

Belarusian ballet admirers could not but remember the graceful ballerina from Georgia. This year Nino Samadashvili delighted the audience with her role of Odette/Odile, when she danced in the Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s legendary ballet during the international festival Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi. At that time Samadashvili admitted: ‘I’m so excited, because Swan Lake is the most difficult ballet for me...’ But her worrying was for naught, because the Belarusian audience welcomed the artist warmly.

Since childhood Nino has danced. However, she studied the national Georgian dance. And then she entered Vakhtang Chabukiani Tbilisi Ballet Art State School. By the way, her mother insisted her daughter to try the ballet or figure skating. The girl made her choice. And later she became soloist of the Zakaria Paliashvili Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre. Now Nino Samadashvili is the leading soloist of the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

As Nino recognized, she lives according to the principle ‘I can do it, I will do it’. And every time she goes on stage, she proves that really can do everything. Of course, the price of any success is the exhausted trainings, pain, traumas and tears. Samadashvili remembers how after the injury she was not strong enough and danced Giselle with a cold: ‘I couldn't feel my legs, but I had to deal with it. I had to go on stage and dance like I don't have any problems.’ Because she loves her audience and they respond...

On 24 November Nino Samadashvili will perform the title role on the Belarusian stage in the Alexander Crain’s Laurencia. By the way, in 2014 this production was performed by the famous Georgian ballerina Nina Ananiashvili. The People's artist of Russia Alexei Fadeyechev was the art adviser. And colorful performance was made by the designer from Georgia David Monavardisashvili and famous fashion historian Alexandre Vassiliev. He created the delightful, light and high-tony costumes. We believe that it will be quite easy for Nino Samadashvili to dance on the Belarusian stage, because she knows this choreography firsthand. Her repertoire includes the roles of Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Myrtha in Giselle (choreography by Alexei Fadeyechev); Raymonda Variation in Raymonda and Mistress of Dryads first and second variation in Don Quixote (choreography by Alexei Fadeyechev and Nina Ananiashvili); Seventh Waltz in Les Sylphides in Nina Ananiashvili’s production. And last June Nino Samadashvili danced in Laurencia at the Tbilisi International Ballet Festival.

We are looking forward to the Georgian artist on the Belarusian stage!
