Akhmed Agadi in the role of Calaf

On 28 November the Honoured Artist of Russia, People's Artist of Tatarstan, winner of Russia’s "Golden Mask" Theatrical Award, one of the most famous and popular tenors of the world Akhmed Agadi (guest soloist of the Belarusian Bolshoi) will appear as Calaf in Turandot by Giacomo Puccini.

For the first time Kazakh tenor performed this role in England – in London, Manchester and Liverpool. Then people heard him as Calaf in Sweden, Norway and Finland. Of course it is the signature role in his native Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. But the Belarusian audience also liked the Persian Prince performed by Ahmed Agadi for a long time. Future leading tenor of Mariinsky Theatre started to learn music only after 20. Young Agadi has sung and danced since he was 5. But as a child he never thought that he needs teachers for these classes. After school he joined the army, where people saw in him, or rather heard the soloist of a military orchestra. And only then Agadi tried to enter the Novosibirsk Conservatoire. But none of the teachers wanted to take as a student no longer a young man, who had never studied music before. Although for sure many of them later regretted. Akhmed enrolled at the vocal department of the music school in Novosibirsk - and three years later began to sing so beautifully that he was taken to the Moscow Conservatory. (And this is when the contest more than 100 people in place!). It is interesting, that during his studies, Akhmed often worked in the cinema on Arbat. Before each session he sang romances to the delight of the audience. In the Russian capital he stayed for a long time, after graduating from the conservatory he shone on the stage of Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre for 11 years. And then he became the star of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. Now he performs on the most famous opera venues in Russia, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Latvia, Argentina and Turkey, Germany, Romania, etc. His repertoire includes the roles of Alfredo Germont in La Traviata, Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, Don Carlo in Don Carlo, Radames in Aida, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni José in Carmen, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Rodolfo in La bohème.

On 28 November Agadi will appear in the role of Calaf in Minsk again. ‘His endlessly beautiful voice, the voice with a tear, is the real decoration of the performance,’ critics write about this role of the leading tenor of Mariinsky Theatre. And Akhmed Agadi often stressed: ‘On the stage I sing what I feel. I get into character and do not even think that here I need to sing "so", and then "so". Voice flows from the very depth of the soul...’

We add that on 28 November that our brilliant actors will appear in undoubted masterpiece by Giacomo Puccini together with Akhmed Agadi. The performance will feature Ekaterina Golovleva as Princess Turandot, Elena Bundeleva as Liù, Andrey Valentiy as Timur, Vladimir Gromov as Ping, Yanosh Nelepa as Pong, Aleksandr Zhukov as Pang, Viktor Mendelev as the Emperor. The performance will be conducted by Viktor Ploskina.
