Pavel Petrov became the winner of Operalia

27-year-old Belarusian tenor Pavel Petrov won the prestigious competition Placido Domingo's Operalia in Lisbon!

On Sunday, September 2, the annual international competition of young singers Operalia-2018 was closed by the final gala concert at the Lisbon Teatro Nacional de São Carlos.  The tenor of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Pavel Petrov not only became the triumphant of this competition, but also won the Don Plácido Domingo Ferrer Prize of Zarzuela!

Jose Cura, Rolando Villazon, Sonya Yoncheva, Aida Garifullina and many others became the winners of the Operalia competition, which was organized by maestro Domingo 25 years ago. And now this list contained Belarusian tenor Pavel Petrov. Pavel Petrov was born in Minsk and in 2011 he entered the Belarusian State Academy of Music (class of the People’s Artist of Belarus Pyotr Ridiger). In 2012, he joined the opera company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. He has participated and won many international competitions. Only recently he got second prize in and the prize for The Best Tenor at the 23rd Ferruccio Tagliavini International Singing Competition in Deutschlandsberg (Austria, 2017) and third  and special prizes at the 37th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition (Jūrmala, Latvia, 2018).

We heartily congratulate Pavel Petrov on this prestigious award at the Operalia-2018! Belarusian tenor became the best of 12 finalists! (Canadian mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo was the best among women). We wish Pavel new victories, achievements, concerts, performances and roles on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus and other venues!
