Firebirds from Georgia

In March the leading soloists of the State Ballet of Georgia Nino Samadashvili and Nutsa Chekurashvili will appear on the Belarusian stage in the fabulous role of Firebird.

The leading soloist of the State Ballet of Georgia Nutsa Chekurashvili already knows Belarusian stage. She took part in the project Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi. Her repertoire includes: Giselle in the eponymous ballet by Adolphe Adam, Kitri in Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Marie in The Nutcracker by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Pasquale in Laurencia by Alexander Krein and many others. According to critics, Nutsa is great in all roles, but she is especially convincing and emotional in the role of Firebird in Igor Stravinsky’s ballet. And on 11 March we can see it, because Nutsa Chekurashvili will perform on the stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi in the evening performance at 6 p.m.

Belarusian admirers of the ballet have already seen Nino Samadashvili in the role of Firebird in the Igor Stravinsky’s fabulous ballet. It was at the Celebratory Evening of Andris Liepa ‘Diaghilev Gala’. But the audience really loved this graceful dancer even earlier, when she danced on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus the role of Odette/Odile in the legendary Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

Since childhood Nino has danced. However, she studied the national Georgian dance. And then she entered Vakhtang Chabukiani Tbilisi Ballet Art State School. By the way, her mother insisted her daughter to try the ballet or figure skating. The girl made her choice. And later she became soloist of the Zakaria Paliashvili Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre.

As Nino recognized, she lives according to the principle ‘I can do it, I will do it’. And every time she goes on stage, she proves that really can do everything. Of course, the price of any success is the exhausted trainings, pain, traumas and tears. Samadashvili remembers how after the injury she was not strong enough and danced Giselle with a cold: ‘I couldn't feel my legs, but I had to deal with it. I had to go on stage and dance like I don't have any problems.’ Because she loves her audience and they respond...

On 18 March Belarusian audience can see Nino Samadashvili in the title role in The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky twice, in the day and evening performances, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
