It is organized by the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus.

The competition is open to singers from all countries, with higher music education (or still students) or employees (guest singers) of professional musical theatres.

Male singers born in or after 1978 and female singers born in or after 1981 are eligible for the competition.

Vladimir Gridyushko, the chairman of the jury and the organizing committee of the competition, General Director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus:

‘It is not easy to begin a new big project while the world art map is thickly marked with events and centres. But we managed. Over two years of its existence the Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition firmly established itself, became instantly recognizable, and was best remembered by its participants and guests for its unique creative ambience, unbiased judgement of the reputable jury comprising managers of major opera houses and international organizations, producers, universally acclaimed artists.

A whole scene from an opera rather than merely an aria in the final added a zest to the competition. It allows us to estimate not only the vocal talent, but also acting skills of the competitors whose performances fascinate both the jury and the audience.

The time and space of opera have strongly changed in the recent century. But has it become easier for young singers to assert themselves? We are happy that our young competition reveals new names to spectators and professionals and fosters the development of talented performers’ international career.

I wish everyone who devoted themselves to the wonderful art of Opera good luck and outstanding artistic achievements!

I look forward to seeing you at the 3rd Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition!’

The 3rd Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition has three rounds: the first and the second rounds will take place with piano accompaniment, and the third round will take place with orchestral accompaniment. In the 3rd round (final), the competitors will sing a lead role in a scene from an opera of classical or modern repertoire. The second and the third rounds will be held on the main stage of the theatre.

The grand prize winner will receive US $ 10,000, the winner of first prize will be awarded US $ 8,000 in prize money, the winner of second prize will collect US $ 6,000 in prize money, and US $ 4,000 will be given to the winner of third prize.
