Nadine Koutcher as Marfa

On 8 September the lead female role in The Tsar’s Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov will be performed by the holder of the ‘best singer of the world’ title Nadine Koutcher.

Nadine Koutcher finished the Mikhail Glinka Minsk Music School with distinction where she had majored in Music Studies. In 2011, she graduated from the Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory where she had principally studied solo singing under Tamara Novichenko and chamber singing under Professor Kira Izotova.

She has performed at the Opera and Ballet Theatre of St Petersburg Conservatory; she has taken part in concert projects of the conductor Sergey Stadler, having sung the title role in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, the roles of Maria in Ivan IV by Bizet, Seraph in Christus am Ölberge by Beethoven, soprano part in Mozart’s Requiem.   

In 2009, she made her debut with the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg. With the company she performed the roles of Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata, Princess Eudoxie in Halévy’s La Juive, Oscar in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera. In 2012, she joined the Pyotr Tchaikovsky Perm Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. She made her Perm debut as Marfa in The Tsar’s Bride. Her Perm Opera roles include Violetta in La traviata, the Fairy in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Brigitta in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Countess Rosina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, etc.

Her prizes include two Golden Masks (2013 and 2015); grand prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World (the UK, 2015); grand, audience and Hieronymus Bosch prizes at the International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch (the Netherlands, 2012), second prize at the Larisa Aleksandrovskaya International Singing Competition (Belarus, 2012); first prizes at the Maksim Mikhailov Competition of Young Opera Singers (Russia, 2011), Bibigul Tulegenova Vocal Competition (Kazakhstan, 2007), St Petersburg Competition of Opera Singers (Russia, 2007), etc.

The 8 September performance will also feature the Honoured Artists of the Republic of Belarus Stanislav Trifonov as Gryaznoy and Oksana Volkova as Lyubasha; winner of international competitions Viktor Mendelev as Lykov; winner of an international competition, recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Andrey Valenty as Sobakin; Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Melnikov as Malyuta. The performance will be conducted by the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Koliadko.
