From 23 to 25 June, the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus invites admirers of classical music to the old town of Nesvizh. The summer palace of the legendary Radziwills will host one of the theatre’s most popular and biggest projects, ‘Evenings of the Bolshoi Theatre’.

Launched at the instigation of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in 2010, the musical project became an unspoken theatrical brand and one of the symbols of the music festival movement. ‘The Evenings of the Bolshoi Theatre at the Radziwill Castle’ is an annual resplendent finish of the Belarusian Bolshoi season. The major Belarusian touristic and cultural centre, Nesvizh with its Radziwill Palace, became part of the scenery of the Belarusian Bolshoi’s productions. Traditionally, performances and concerts comprising the festival programme are given at several venues: the courtyard and the concert hall of the castle, the town hall, and one of the most beautiful baroque churches, the Church of Corpus Domini.

On 23 June the Evening of the Bolshoi Theatre at the Radziwill Castle will open with a unique concert programme ‘Belarusian Classicism’ at the Church of Corpus Domini. It includes pieces by outstanding composers whose work and biography were connected with Belarus, namely Józef Kozłowski, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Abraham Peter Schulz, Franz Joseph Haydn, Jan Dawid Holland, Josef Daszczynski.

On the evening of the same day, the company will present the French composer Adolphe Adam’s ballet Giselle, ou les Wilis, a recognized masterpiece of choreography and one of the most popular productions of the Belarusian Bolshoi, in the courtyard of the Radziwill Castle. The performance will be conducted by Nikolai Koliadko.

On 24 June, the concert ‘Love Is No Respecter of Age’ will take place at the concert hall of the Radziwill Castle. Its programme includes Russian and French art songs, Neapolitan songs and instrumental music. Tatiana Tretiak, Vladimir Petrov, Tatyana Gavrilova, Eduard Martyniuk, and the string quintet Serenada will present hits about the feeling that does not depend on time or circumstances.

Love passions will not subside till the evening of 24 June when a performance of Pietro Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria rusticana, which has premiered this season, will be held under the baton of Viktor Ploskina.

On June 25 we invite you to become an accomplice of real theatrical disorder, enjoying a performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s VIVA LA MAMMA!, or Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali directed by Elena Medyakova and conducted by Ivan Kostyakhin.

The large-scale open-air festival of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in old Nesvizh will close with a gala concert ‘The Radziwill Ball’ on the stage of the courtyard of the Radziwill Castle. The concert programme comprises world opera and operetta hits, the most popular arias and duets, scenes from masterpieces of world choreography, and popular music performed by stars of the Belarusian opera and ballet companies, and the musicians of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
