Bolshoi Theatre in China

From 27 to 31 May the Belarusian Culture Days in China were held in Beijing. Of course, it's nice that at the close of this festival the people of China saw a wonderful production of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, the wonderful ballet Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The Belarusian artists presented two performances on 30 and 31 May.

‘This ballet really enjoys immense popularity and love in China,’ said the artistic director of ballet of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, People's Artist of Belarus Yury Trayan. ‘Although we’ve toured China over 10 times, it’s the first time that we have appeared at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. This is an ultra-modern building, probably the main theatrical venue of the country, and to perform there was certainly interesting. I must say that to represent our country during the Belarusian Culture Days in China is both prestigious and responsible, given the level of this country and the level of professional skill of Chinese artists who are considered to be among the strongest in the world. But we showcased a serious performance level, for the best soloists of our company were engaged: the lead roles of Odette / Odile and Siegfried were danced by Liudmila Khitrova, Yana Shtangei, Oleg Eromkin and Egor Azarkevich respectively.
