The Tenor from Lviv

On 12 October the Ukrainian tenor will performed the role of Richard in Un ballo in maschera. On 14 October he appears as Duke in another undoubted Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece Rigoletto.

The soloist of the Lviv Opera won first and audience prizes of the 2nd Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition. He already feels comfortable at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, because it is not his first performance on our stage. ‘I feel at home in Minsk. No, it's not even that. I’m at home,’ Ukrainian tenor smiled. ‘Probably the Belarusian public liked me if I got the highest award – audience prize...’And the fact, that Mykhailo received a loud cheers and it was not once, demonstrate it.

On 12 October lines of true love and friendship are closely intertwined with the political games in Giuseppe Verdi's Un ballo in maschera. In this "the most melodramatic of all melodramas" Mykhailo Malafii appears as Richard. ‘The role of Richard is really big and complicated,’ noted Malafii. ‘But I like it because my voice fits it well and I make it to the end. And already on 14 October, the Ukrainian tenor will perform the role of the dissolute villain Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto.

‘By the way, scientists have proved,’ laughed Michael, ‘if after the tenor’s performance you shout "Bravo!", it has a very beneficial effect on your body. So we are waiting for you on 12 and 14 October at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. I try to lift your spirit with my singing, because nothing heals the soul as much as music...
