From 15 to 22 December the bright premieres, new names and best performances of repertoire will take place at the Bolshoi theatre of Belarus. Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum is the main event of December. And we gather friends.
Minsk Christmas Opera Forum-2017 will start with the performance of Die Zauberflöte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which was first presented in March of this year. The international team worked on the realization of Mozart's main hit directed by Hans-Joachim Frey. In 2013 he staged Richard Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer on the Belarusian stage. The production team recreated the world of fantasy on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre, which is so popular today. It is a combination of John Tolkien’s magic lands and George Martin’s Seven Kingdoms.
On 15 December the Belarusian winner of the prestigious international competition BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, two-time laureate of the "Golden Mask" Theatrical Award Nadine Koutcher will try on the crown of the Kingdom. The leading roles in Die Zauberflöte will feature Alexander Keda as Sarastro, Yury Gorodetsky as Tamino, Irina Kuchinskaya as Pamina. Maestro Wilhelm Keitel (Germany) will conduct. He has been working closely with the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus more than fifteen years.
On 16 December the Italian drama with elements of a vendetta by maestro Pietro Mascagni will take place on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. The premiere of the past theatrical season Cavalleria Rusticana staged by the principal director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Mikhail Pandzhavidze will plunge the audience into the quagmire of raging passions and will tell the audience about the difficult relationships between the characters, where the abandoned by lover and blinded by jealousy heroine, is ready to do anything to get back the man. This evening on stage will appear Ekaterina Golovleva as Santuzza, Stanislav Trifonov as Alfio, Kriskentia Stasenko as Lola, the role of ‘bone of women’s contention’- Turiddu will perform the Honoured Artist of Russia Akhmed Agadi (Mariinsky Theatre). Akhmed Agadi is a long-awaited guest of the Belarusian public, the stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi almost native for him, because the artist repeatedly performed the leading roles in the productions of the world opera masterpieces.
On 18 December the audience will meet Catalonian sultry stunner Carmen in the eponymous Georges Bizet’s opera. The artists of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic (Poland) will perform the most popular in the world opera Carmen to the Belarusian admirers of the opera. The Director's interpretation of a love triangle (Gypsy, bullfighter and a soldier) from the famous Polish Director Beata Redo-Dobber is a personal drama of the "women-star" with references to the feminism and a detailed analysis of the "femme fatale" phenomenon. The leading roles will sing Oksana Volkova as Carmen and the soloists of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic opera company.
On 21 December the Belarusian Bolshoi presents the premiere of the current theatrical season, one of the most sentimental opera dramas La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, staged by the Latvian director Andrejs Žagars. The 6th production of the legendary opera by the genius of the musical melodrama Verdi promises the audience an excursion into the Paris realities of our time, an analysis of the "public loneliness" problem and, of course, a true love story. The performance will feature Yuri Gorodetski as Alfredo, Alexander Krasnodubsky as Germont, Ekaterina Mikhnovets as Flora. Nadezhda Pavlova will appear in the role of Violetta Valéry. The muse of the most famous conductor of our time Teodor Currentzis and favorite of all opera admirers won the hearts of the Belarusian audience with her triumphant performance in the final of the Minsk Singing Competition-2015. Also in the past theatrical season Nadezhda Pavlova became one of the guest soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
On 22 December the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus invites all admirers of opera and classical music to the Gala-concert of the world opera stars with participation of the famous singers, laureates of the Minsk Singing Competition of the past years and winners of the competition in 2017. The Gala-concert comprises Tigran Ohanyan (Armenia), Andrey Nemzer (Russia), Oleg Budaratskiy (Russia), Nadezhda Pavlova (Russia), Ihor Borko (Ukraine), Sundet Baigozhin (Kazakhstan), Azar Zeynalov (Azerbaijan), Ilham Nazarov (Azerbaijan), Afag Abbasova (Azerbaijan), Aleksandrina Stoyanova-Andreeva (Bulgary), Hélène Carpentier (France), Viktorija Miškūnaitė (Lithuania), Tatiana Busuioc (Moldova), Lasha Sesitashvili (Georgia), Hector Lopez Mendoza (Mexico). Gianluca Marcianò and Andrei Galanov will conduct.
