The World of Hans Zimmer

The grand tour "The World of Hans Zimmer. A Symphonic Celebration" started in Germany and Switzerland at the end of April and the symphony orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus helped to discover Hans Zimmer’s music worlds. And our musicians received standing ovations of the audience at the arenas of Hamburg, Berlin, Hanover, Leipzig, Nuremberg, Cologne, Stuttgart and Zurich.

‘Participation in such projects develops you as a professional first of all,’ the orchestra manager of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Dzmitry Harbachuk said. ‘Yes, it is a happiness to work in our team. And it's great that we have the opportunity to play music not only to performances from the current repertoire of our theatre. And when you meet people, who are more than professionals in their field, you can't work in a different way.

The organizers, who invited us to participate in this tour, worked with us for the first time. Before the first rehearsal the conductor Gavin Greenaway didn’t know the team he will have to work with. But when he started conducting he literally blossomed. Because he realized that everything will go smoothly. And we really demonstrated a very high level. As evidenced by the applause of the audience of thousands, who came to the European arenas. The organizers then admitted that it is not easy to rock the German audience, and when people rise in applause, it is something unbelievable! But we did it!

It was a pleasure to meet Hans Zimmer again and to hear the words of gratitude for our professional work from the world-renowned composer. It is wonderful that organizers always represented our team as the symphony orchestra of the Belarusian Bolshoi. And the audience welcomed us as artists of our theatre.

The programme featured works from cartoons and films: The Dark Knight, King Arthur, Mission: Impossible, Pearl Harbor, Rush, The Da Vinci Code, Madagascar, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Kung Fu Panda, Hannibal, The Holiday, The Lion King, Gladiator. And as an encore we traditionally played the soundtracks to blockbusters Inception and Pirates of the Caribbean and heard only cries of admiration from the audience. People recognized these works immediately. By the way, I was pleased that there was the audience of all ages. Then we talked with the organizers, and I really liked their position on our project. They have following reasons to do such programmes: owing to such concerts they try to promote a love of classical art for the audience (young audience in particular).’

We just want to add that 60 artists of the symphony orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, band of soloists (musicians) from different countries, as well as the chorus of Belteleradiocompany took part in this large-scale tour.
