From 13 to 21 December the Christmas Opera Forum-2018 will take place at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus has been gathering widely known opera stars on its stage for nine years. We invite our audience to see new productions, the best performances of the current and past seasons and festival premieres of various opera genres.
On 13 December the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus will present a bright youth project of this year, one of the most popular opera buffa Don Pasquale written by Maestro Donizetti for (!!!) ten days. On the stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi it was directed by Mikhail Pandzhavidze, Viktor Ploskina, Alexander Kostiuchenko.
On 15 December opera admirers will hear the fascinating soprano Olga Peretyatko. She receives a standing ovation in the Vienna State Opera and Opéra de Paris, Zurich Opera House and Milan’s Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Real in Madrid, Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Metropolitan Opera in New York and other leading opera venues of the world. And within the forum she will perform her recital at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus for the first time. The concert programme will include arias from famous operas by Glinka, Bellini, Rossini, Donizetti, Verdi, Gounod and other authors accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
On 16 December on the stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi the audience can see "the most beautiful woman of Rome" Floria Tosca performed by the Serbian diva Dragana Radaković. Her lyrico-dramatic soprano is called one of the best in Europe, the singer performs in Germany, Italy and Australia. She is a guest soloist of the Romanian National Opera, State Opera in Varna (Bulgaria), Cairo Opera House, and Slovene National Theatre Maribor. The Honoured Artist of Russia, People's Artist of Tatarstan, winner of Russia’s Golden Mask Theatre Award Akhmed Agadi will appear in the role of Cavaradossi. Gianluca Marciano will conduct.
On 17 December our festival guests will see Giacomo Puccini's La bohème. At the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus premiere of Puccini's masterpiece took place in April 2018. It was staged by the People’s Artist of Russia, artistic director of opera at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre Alexander Titel. The Belarusian production of the master was dedicated to the people of art, artists, who despise conformism and manifest their art and themselves. Viktor Ploskina will conduct.
On 20 December Salome by Richard Strauss will be performed on our stage. This production, which premiered in October 2018, caused quite a sensation and instantly turned into a must-watch for theater-goers and opera admirers. The director of the production Mikhail Pandzhavidze calls on the audience to reflect on the purity of true love, behavior of modern Western civilization, society, consumed with sins. Dmitry Pyanov (Russia) in the role of Herodes. Viktor Ploskina will conduct.
On 21 December gala concert starring world opera stars will take place on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. We invite all opera and classical music admirers to hear real opera hits performed by world opera stars, winners of the Minsk Singing Competition of the past years and triumphers of the Competition-2018. Alexander Anisimov will conduct.
