Head of State at the Bolshoi

 

On 6 March Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko visited the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, where he gained an insight of displayed works by nominees for the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in the field of literature, art and architecture in the year 2016.

 


The list of the nominees includes:

Ensemble of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus (Oksana Volkova, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus, leading soloist, mezzo-soprano of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus; Alexander Kostiuchenko, recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal, principal designer of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus; Nina Lomanovich, People's Artist of Belarus, recipient of the Order of Francysk Skaryna, principal chorus master of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus; Anastasia Moskvina,  People's Artist of Belarus, leading soloist, soprano of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus; Stanislav Trifonov, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus, leading soloist, baritone of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus; Sergey Frankovsky, People's Artist of Belarus, leading soloist, tenor of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus) for considerable artistic achievements in the development of music, promotion of spiritual values and personal contribution to the production of the opera The Grey Legend to the music by Dmitry Smolsky after Vladimir Korotkevich’s piece;
 
Composer Vladimir Kondrusevich for significant achievements in the field of theatre and music, composing music for the ballet Mephisto and the musicals A Glass of Water, Julia, Sophia of Halshany, Biker;

Honoured Art Worker of Belarus Boris Krepak for the creation of a series of books and albums about the life and work of workers of culture and art of Belarus;

Chairman of the Minsk Municipal Branch of the Belarusian Society of Writers Mikhail Pozdnyakov for the creation of books for children In the Native Land, A Play on Words, Silver Gulls;

Film Director, Honored Artist of Belarus Anatoly Alai for the creation of a series of documentary films about the Great Patriotic War (He was Buried in the Earth, Black Road, Outcast, The Soldiers of Italy, In Two Steps from the Guillotine, The Red Devil, Peter the Groom, Georgy Zhukov. War and Peace of the Marshal of Victory, Boomerang);

Ensemble of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society (Mikhail Kozinets, People's Artist of Belarus, Professor, recipient of the Order of Francysk Skaryna, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Ivan Zhinovich National Academic Folk Orchestra of Belarus; Alexander Kremko, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, conductor of the Ivan Zhinovich National Academic Folk Orchestra of Belarus; Larisa Simakovich, composer, ballet master, Artistic Director of the Hostsitsa folk theatre) for the creation of concerts performances of the tetralogy "Holy, Unforgettable..." (musical show productions Psaltery Player, The Apocrypha, The Song of Fate, Lutsian Tapolya);

Ensemble comprising sculptor Gennady Buralkin, sculptor and architect Valentin Zankovich, and architect Stalin Fedchenko for the creation of memorials and sculptural groups dedicated to the frontier from 2004 to 2011.

The list also includes the People’s Artist of the USSR Rostislav Yankovsky nominated for the outstanding creation of the roles from classical foreign and modern Belarusian drama.

After the concert presentation, as BelTA reports, Alexander Lukashenko’s talk with the artists who prepared the presentation went in a warm manner: “I now strongly believe that no money should be spared for you. I've been saying for a long time that there can be no situation when money for art should be spared. None. I practice a different approach to the matter: money should be paid to those who deserve it. Great money should be paid to those who doubly deserve it.”



The President was very impressed with the talent of brilliant artists: the evening featured Stanislav Trifonov, Sergey Frankovsky, Nina Sharubina, Anna Fokina, Anton Kravchenko, Alexander Gelakh, Viktor Mendelev, Alexander Mikhniuk, Oksana Volkova, Konstantin Kuznetsov, Yury Kovalev, Ekaterina Oleynik, Nadezhda Filippova, Aleksandra Chizhik, Takatoshi Machiyama, Anastasia Moskvina, Yury Gorodetsky, Dmitry Gorbachuk, chorus and orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, and Olga Zhelezskaya, a soloist of the Musical Theatre. The show was conducted by Andrei Ivanou, Marina Tretyakova, and Andrei Galanov.
