The new star of the Russian opera on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus
On 14 March, the title role in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's The Tsar's Bride will be performed by the prima of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre Nadezhda Pavlova. She has conquered the hearts of Belarusian music lovers claiming a resounding victory at the 2nd Minsk International Singing Competition: the Perm prima won the Grand Prize and the Audience Award of the competition. Her performance in the finals and at the gala concert of the Christmas Opera forum 2015 caused a storm of delight and was greeted with rapturous applause of the audience.

The golden voice of Ukraine is back in Minsk!
The stage of the Belarus Bolshoi wouldn’t part with the young tenor Mykhailo Malafii. Once again he will star in Un ballo in maschera by Giuseppe Verdi and, once again, in the part of Richard. However, this time the Lviv Opera artist will perform in a different status, as a guest soloist.

Die Zauberflöte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Booklet
On 30 March and 18 April, one of the most famous operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Die Zauberflöte will premiere on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus as part of the Austrian Cultural Season in Belarus. The premiere-to-be is a joint collaboration of the Brucknerhaus Concert Hall in Linz and the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

Premiere of Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni:
The new production of Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni will be presented in April. This staging of the famous opera of the Italian verismo will be the fourth one on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

Stars of the world ballet evening
On 3 April, there will be a gala concert of world ballet stars dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Marina Vezhnovec Ballet School on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. The Honoured Artists of the Republic of Belarus Marina Vezhnovec and Yuri Kovalev speak about the project of the festive evening.

On February 12, in honour of the 20th anniversary of the opera Magic Music an entertainment activity within the project ‘Bolshoi Theatre for Children" took place before the matinee performance.

On 23 February, the Belarusian State Economic University held its fourth meeting in the frames of the Youth Programmes of the Bolshoi project.

The sounds of music!
On 14 March, the audience of the Chamber Hall of the Theatre is up for a unique evening: for the first time in the 10-year history of the string quintet ‘Serenada’, the musicians will present a purely instrumental concert. And, what is more, an opera soloist will appear in an unusual role: Tatiana Tretiak will take the seat at the piano.

Nadezhda Filippova, ‘Ballet is an art for the hard-working’
When many of the dancers wanted to dance the meek Odette, Nadezhda was trying on the role of the wayward and impulsive gypsy Esmeralda. They are very much alike: both are bright and emotional, energetic and unforgettable, bold and purposeful. For 12 seasons running Nadezhda Filippova has been appearing on stage of the Bolshoi both in proven classical productions and in new, so to say, ‘hooligan’ projects, for any mask fits this true artist.

Gallant age of Alexander Martynov
The Honoured Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus, ballet master and répétiteur  of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Alexander Martynov is adored and respected by all, without exception, both students and colleagues. Monsieur Martynov, a gallant and courteous gentleman, may seem a bit extravagant during the first encounter, but the moment you start even a short conversation about his favourite ballet, it becomes apparent: his image portrays the state of his delicate soul. The major toff and the gentleman of the Belarusian ballet, Alexander Martynov celebrates his anniversary on 29 March.

Oh, mother!
From the early childhood the 8th of March is the day when we celebrate our most beloved people, our mothers. The magazine Parterre talked to the lovely moms of the Belarusian Bolshoi about how they manage to combine challenging mother’s tasks with the tough job of an actor.

Genrikh Matskevitch, ‘If it were possible to start this journey over again, I would do it just the same way.’
Genrikh Matskevitch , a musician of the orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. He has been with the company of the theatre, where he plays the first violin for 27 years. Genrikh is a successor to musical and artistic traditions of his family. He is also a member of the popular string quintet ‘Serenada’.

Viva la opera!
The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus is rightfully proud of its brilliant professionals. And it is all the more pleasing if these professionals are charming women, admired for their musical skills by the veteran theatergoers, critics, and colleagues. And it’s even better if their professionalism is appreciated by the State. In January, the principal chorus master of the theatre, the People's Artist of Belarus Nina Lomanovich was awarded the Order of Francysk Skaryna. The People's Artist of Belarus Nina Scharubina, the recipient of the Medal of Francysk Skaryna and the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in the field of literature, arts and architecture, was appointed Chairperson of the Board of the Culture and Art Support Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus. We congratulate our artists wishing them inexhaustible energy and creative achievements, inspiration and harmony!

Each theatre should have its own "mommy"
This year the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Nina Kozlova celebrates a double, or even triple anniversary. In addition to her birthday anniversary in early May she will celebrate the 45th anniversary of her creative activity in August. And the coming October will be marked with the 20th anniversary of her being in the capacity of the manager of the opera company. But the main event, which will kick off the celebrations, will occur on 17March: this day will mark 40 years since Nina Kozlova came to work in the  theatre.
