Andrei Galanov is a graduate of the Belarusian State Academy of Music with Master of Arts in symphonic and opera conducting (class of associate Professor Anatoly Engelbrecht, 1995). His conducting career began in 1993 at the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus; in 1997, he became a conductor of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus. During the concert seasons of 1999 to 2003, he was principal conductor of Rostov State Musical Theatre (Russia); from 2004 to 2006, he was principal conductor of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus.
During his tenure at the theatre Andrei Galanov has staged such operas as Carmen by Georges Bizet, La cambiale di matrimonio by Gioachino Rossini, Iolanta and The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
The conductor's repertoire comprises more than 20 Opera and ballet productions, including Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, Madame Butterfly and Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, Iolanta and The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by Dmitri Shostakovich, The Lady’s Visit by Sergey Kortes, The Firebird and The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky, Romeo and Juliet by Sergey Prokofiev, etc.
Andrei Galanov actively cooperates with Belarusian and foreign orchestras, including Symphony Orchestras of Russia in Belgorod, Ulyanovsk and Rostov-on-Don; the Chamber Orchestra of Provence (France), Teatro Marrucino Orchestra (Italy), the New Tokyo Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (Japan), etc. He has toured Belgium, UK, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Norway, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Lithuania, Japan, Thailand, and Brazil. For the past 13 years, the conductor participates in annual music festivals in France and Switzerland.
CD recordings featuring the music conducted by maestro Galanov were released by National Radio France, Cube Music and Harmonia mundi.
