Ilgam Valiev in the role of Faust

 

Ilgam Valiev, winner of the Golden Mask National Theatre Award, People's Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Republic of Tatarstan will perform in Minsk again! On 24 May, the soloist of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theatre Ilgam Valiev will appear in the title role in Gounod’s Faust. The audience of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus will see the opera singer in this role for the first time.

Faust is one of the greatest works of world opera classics. After premiere in Paris in 1859, it has consistently appeared in the repertoires of the world largest theatres. The role of Faust is one of the most difficult and significant in the tenor repertoire. The main character is a scientist who, desperate to find meaning of life, makes a deal with Méphistophélès to regain his youth and find love. This role requires not only good vocal technique from the performer, but also deep acting skills.…


Ilgam Valiev is known for his talent to reveal the bright nature of the characters, thanks to his strong, beautiful voice. But it is impossible not to mention the dramatic fullness of his roles. We are sure that Valiev in the role of Faust will be an event for opera admirers. Let us remind you that in May 2023 Ilgam Valiev made his debut on the Belarusian stage. He performed in our production of Puccini's Turandot. Then the Belarusian audience repeatedly applauded the soloist of the Bashkir Opera in this role.


Canio in Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo, Alfredo in La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, the Duke in Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, Faust in the eponymous opera by Charles Gounod, Jose in Carmen by Georges Bizet, Cavaradossi in Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, Eric in Der fliegende Holländer by Richard Wagner and many other roles Valiev successfully performed on the stages of the Yekaterinburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (2010-2016) and the Bashkir Opera, where he is a soloist now. The artist was awarded a special prize at the Golden Mask National Theatre Festival for the role of the Prince in The Love for Three Oranges by Sergei Prokofiev. He often performs in many famous Russian theatres (Moscow, Kazan, Perm, Chelyabinsk).
