The Sun of Italy

On 16 January two musicians will brought a bit of Italian sun to the cold Belarusian winter. The tenor Vincenzo Costanzo will perform the role of Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca directed by Mikhail Pandzhavidze. And the principal guest conductor of our theatre Gianluca Marcianò will conduct.

Vincenzo Costanzo was born "with a volcano in his heart" in Somma Vesuviana. He is only 28 years old, but people already called him "new Pavarotti". And although the musician himself jokes: "People like to exaggerate," his artistic biography is really impressive. Costanzo is the winner of the International Opera Award Oscar Della Lirica (2014), as well as the winner of the competition Voci Verdiane in Busseto. He worked with world-renowned directors Franco Zeffirelli, Liliana Cavani, Leo Nucci, conductors Daniel Oren, Donato Renzetti. Of course, his name is known to the public of various theatres throughout Italy, including the famous Teatro alla Scala. He has performed in opera houses in Guangzhou and Shanghai, Astana and Amsterdam, Berlin and Barcelona. In his immediate plans he will perform in San Francisco, Madrid, Hamburg, Liege.

His rich Verdi repertoire include: Rodolfo in Luisa Miller, Alfredo Germont in La traviata, Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra, Malcolm in Macbeth, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera. His dream is to sing in Andrea Chénier by Umberto Giordano, as well as in Puccini’s Turandot and La fanciulla del West.
