Yuri Gorodetski graduated from the Belarusian State Academy of Music where he had studied under the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Ivashkov. He took part in masterclasses of the International Academy of Music in Nice and trained at the Music Institute in Modena, Italy, under Raina Kabaivanska. Then he continued his training at the Opera Studio of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium under the tutelage of José Van Dam.
He is a laureate of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the Support of Talented Youth (2006 and 2008).
He joined the opera company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in 2006.
From 2012-14 he was a member of Washington National Opera’s Young Artist Program.
Yuri Gorodetski is a regular participant of the projects dedicated to little-known old music or new pieces that have never been performed before, including the world premiere of Igor Khodosko’s oratorio Lamentation held as part of the project “Evenings of Belarusian Opera and Ballet at the Radziwill Castle”, etc. He collaborates with the Chamber Soloists of Minsk orchestra under the baton of Dmitry Zubov, with which he performs pieces of the baroque and classical periods, and the Belarusian Capella ensemble, with which he performs Belarusian music of the 17th-20th centuries.
His discography includes the record of songs by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Sergey Rachmaninov with piano accompaniment by Tatyana Loysha (ATMA Classique, 2013).

Tenor part in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem, Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem, other oratorios and cantatas, Das Lied von der Erde by Gustav Mahler, vocal and chamber music.
In 2007, Yuri Gorodetski participated in the charity concert “Classics and Jazz” at Kolomenskoye Estate in Moscow (with Maria Gulegina and Denis Matsuyev).
In 2011-12, he sang the roles of Ly-Lam in Baldassare Galuppi’s L'inimico delle donne, Basilio in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, the Steersman in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie. His other roles with company included Count Errico in Joseph Haydn’s La vera constanza (conductor Jesús Lopez Cobos, 2012) and Jaquino in Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio (conductor Paolo Arrivabeni, 2014).
From 2012-14, as a member of the Young Artist Program of the Washington National Opera, he performed the roles of Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Edmondo in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, the Shepherd and the Young Sailor in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.
In 2013, he gave a recital at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal with piano accompaniment by Tatyana Loysha.
Gorodetski’s engagements with the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia included Tamino in Die Zauberflöte (conductor Christopher Moulds, 2012), Ferrando in Così fan tutte (conductor Stefano Montanari, 2014), Kai and the Troll in The Story of Kai and Gerda (conductor Anton Grishanin, 2014).
