Oleg Melnikov is a graduate of the Mikhail Glinka Minsk State Music College (class of the Honoured Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Adam Murzich) and the Odessa National Antonina Nezhdanova Conservatory (E.N. Ivanov’s class, 1992). In 2011, he graduated in musical theatre directing from the Belarusian State Academy of Music.
From 1986 to 1993, he was a soloist with the Odessa State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre
He joined the opera company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in 1993.
He is a regular participant of the Irina Arkhipova Invites Festival; in 2003, he received the Irina Arkhipova special prize and a silver medal for his interpretation of Boris Godunov in the eponymous opera by Modest Mussorgsky and his substantial contribution to education and enlightenment in Russia. In 2013, he received a commendation from the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus for his significant contribution to the development of opera.
Oleg Melnikov was a member of the board of the Belarusian Union of Music Workers, a chairperson of the Belarusian Feodor Chaliapin Society and of the Feodor Chaliapin Singing Competition in Belarus. He regularly serves on the jury for international competitions held in Russia and Belarus, including the Mikhail Glinka International Vocal Contest.
In 2012 and 2013, he was a moderator and speaker of the Republican Seminar for Voice Teachers and Soloists, where he gave masterclasses (Minsk).
He regularly appears in concert at the Belarusian State Philharmonic. He has given recitals in Belarus and abroad.
His works as a stage director include Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin for the Youth Opera Theatre in Molodechno, Belarus (2010), The Queen of Spades by Tchaikovsky for the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad (2011), Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Mozart and Salieri for the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus (2022).

In 1991, Oleg Melnikov gave a number of recitals as part of world tour promoted by Delphin Seereisen, Germany.
From 2012-14, he took part in the international festival “Shakhimardan Invites Friends” (Kazakhstan).
With the company, he has toured Spain, Germany, Israel, and Switzerland.
