The Thirteenth. Happy

What is a ball? This is beautiful music and dancing, smiles and laugh, jokes and drawings of lottery, unexpected meetings and surprises, games and quests, confetti and champagne… This is an opportunity to visit another century and to be surrounded by charming ladies in magnificent dresses and gallant gentlemen for at least a few hours. This is an opportunity to celebrate the Old New Year in the company of talented artists, artists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

For the 13th time the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus will hold a New Year’s Ball on the night of January 13th/14th. We have no doubt that this number will add a shadow of mysticism to your holiday. However, you can be absolutely sure that everyone who buys a ticket to the ball will fall into a fairy tale.

This year, the Big New Year's Ball will get back on track – the main dance action will take place again in the lobby. The director of the ball will be Anna Motornaya. She promises a trip to an ancient castle, that the theatre will become for one night. We will unravel a mystery of the castle together with the stars of the Bolshoi at a traditional surprise concert. The directors Olga Buravleva, Natalia Baranovskaya, Maryia Isayeva and Elena Sidor will help Anna Motorna. We will see concerts in the Chamber Hall and entertainment programmes in the lobby.

Dance classes with choreographer Yuliya Dziatko will start on 25 October. And already on 13 January, the cavaliers and their ladies will decorously walk in polonaise, marches, whirl in waltzes and dance the polka. The Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Yuliya Dziatko prepares a new programme with her students every year. This year will not be an exception.

Aleh Lessoun, Ivan Kostyakhin and Vladimir Ovodok will conduct. Lyubov Sidelnikova and Ekaterina Bulgakova are responsible for the design of the theatre. Of course, the participation of the chief chorus master and principal choreographer of the theatre People's Artists of Belarus Nina Lomanovich and Yury Trayan is also very important.
