The theatre venue of the 21st century is a complex facility equipped with the latest technology allowing the realization of the most daring Director's concept.
The reconstruction of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus, one of the largest European theatrical reconstructions of the beginning of the Millennium, started in 2006 and went on for three years. A team of architects, designers, engineers, builders faced two difficult tasks: reconstruction and restoration. On the one hand, the theatre is a national treasure, so it was necessary to consider the opinions of historians and to preserve the material assets and spiritual values inherent in this particular project. On the other hand, the major theatre of the country must have the latest stage technologies, equipment and exclusive materials. As a result, the audience was introduced to the new interior restored with great delicacy: the new design of the theatre appearance was made as close as possible to the original project by the building’s author and architect Iosif Langbard. Behind the curtain of the theatre there is a unique stage area which is one of the best in Europe.
