Andrei Ivanou is a graduate of the Belarusian State Academy of Music majoring in chorus conducting (class of associate professor Larisa Shimanovich , 2004) and in symphonic and opera conducting (class of associate professor Pyotr Vandilovski, 2008). From 2001to 2005, he studied academic singing (class of the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Zdanevich)
In 2006,he undertook his internship at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. And in 2007, he was appointed assistant to the principal conductor. In 2008, he was appointed conductor of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus. In 2011 he undertook his apprenticeship at the State Academic Mariinsky Theatre under the tutelage of Valery Gergiev.
Since 2017 he is principal conductor of the Rostov State Musical Theatre.
As musical director, he has produced a number of premiers, including La voix humaine by Francis Poulenc, The Telephone by Gian Carlo Menotti, La serva padrona by Giovanni Pergolesi, Il maestro di cappella by Domenico Cimarosa, Winnie-the-Pooh by Olga Petrova, and Love and Death by Polad Bulbuloglu.
He has been engaged in the productions of Il trovatore, Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi; Turandot, Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini; Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo; Der fliegende Holländer by Richard Wagner; Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni; Khovanshchina by Modest Mussorgsky; Snow Maiden, Mozart and Salieri, Kashchey the Immortal, Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov; Aleko by Sergei Rachmaninov; Oedipus Rex, The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky; The Grey Legend by Dmitry Smolsky; The Bluebeard and His Wives by Viktor Kopytko; Coffee Cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach; Terem-Teremok by Iliya Polsky; Giselle by Adolphe Adam; Seven Beauties by Kara Karaev; Thamar by Mily Balakirev; Cinderella by Sergey Prokofiev; Vitaut by Vyacheslav Kuznetsov; Laurencia by Alexander Krein.
He has prepared a number of programmes for the symphonic orchestra, chorus and soloists of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus. He takes an active part in the creative projects of the theatre including Big New Year’s Ball at the Bolshoi Theatre, Evenings of the Bolshoi Theatre at the Radzivill Castle, Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi, and Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum.
His repertoire includes such operas as Tosca by Giacomo Puccini; Carmen by Georges Bizet; Don Juan, The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; The Queen of Spades, Iolanta by Pyotr Tchaikovsky; Magic Music by Mark Minkov; Puss in Boots by César Cui; as well as the ballets Le Corsaire by Adolphe Adam; La Esmeralda by Cesare Pugni; Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus; Tristan and Isolde by Richard Wagner; Chopiniana by Frédéric Chopin; Bolero by Maurice Ravel; La Fille mal gardée by Lui Herold; The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky; The Creation of the World by Andrey Petrov; Cipollino by Karen Khachaturian; The Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Bogdan Pavlovsky; Three Piglets by Svetlana Kibirova.
Since 2005, he has been engaged as teacher at the Opera training department of the Belarusian State Academy of Music. As music director, he has produced the following performances at the Opera Studio of the Academy: La bohème, Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini; La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi; Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky; L'elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti and The Tsar’s Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
Since 2012, he has been engaged as artistic director and conductor of the symphonic orchestra of the Belarusian State Academy of Music. The orchestra gives frequent concerts and is a regular participant of international festivals, including Students of the Academy to Belarusian Youth, In Touch Music Festival, etс.
Andrei Ivanou has toured Italy, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia.
