Premiere of the ballet Petrushka

On 6 June Igor Stravinsky’s Petrushka staged by People's Artist of Russia Andris Liepa premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. The Honoured Artist of Ukraine Viktor Ploskina is musical director and Anatoly Nezhny is designer.

Petrushka is the second ballet from Stravinsky's brilliant triad of early ballets. In 1991 it was performed by “Russian Seasons” in Paris. In the brilliant creative union of Igor Stravinsky, Michel Fokine and Alexandre Benois a masterpiece was born. And it became one of the symbols of Russian culture. Making new versions of “Russian Seasons” ballets Andris Liepa made a point to go to the fountainhead - to the preserved set design, and costumes, photos from performances, music, memories of contemporaries.

At the Belarusian Bolshoi Petrushka was staged for the first time. The premiere featured leading masters of stage. The Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Eromkin performed the role of Petrushka. The recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal,

The leading master of stage Artem Bankovsky appeared in the role of the Moor and soloist of our ballet company Even Capitaine in the role of the Devil. The maestro Viktor Ploskina conducted. The performance delighted the audience.
