Mykhailo Malafii. Governor of Boston

Love, passion, intrigue, conspiracy, murder-this opera seems to have everything. But most importantly, that it has the amazing music of the brilliant Giuseppe Verdi. It was staged by Semen Stein and has been living on the Belarusian stage for more than 30 years. On 21 April Un ballo in maschera will whirl the audience of the Bolshoi Theatre once again.

Mykhailo Malafii will appear in the role of Riccardo in this "the most melodramatic of all melodramas ". The Ukrainian tenor, perhaps, does not remember how many times he performed in Minsk. But Mykhailo is sure that our city became a kind of launching pad for his undoubtedly successful professional career. Malafii has already performed in many theatres around the world. Among them: Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Serbia, Italy, France, Austria (in Linz the Ukrainian tenor won the International Competition of singers of the Italian Opera Competizione dell'Opera-2017). And anyway Minsk was at the beginning. On the stage of our Bolshoi Theatre Malafii won first and audience prizes of the 2nd Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition. So Mykhailo had the opportunity to sing in the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, and then he becomes our guest soloist. The enthusiastic audience was charmed by his sincerity and talent and awarded him the audience prize. And due to his performance of the leading tenor roles in Un ballo in masсhera, La Traviata, Eugene Onegin and Rigoletto, he became one of the main favorites of the Minsk audience.

On 21 April Mykhailo Malafii put on the mask and cloak, take a sword and turn into Riccardo in the Verdi’s masterpiece Un ballo in maschera. On this day, on the stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi lines of true love and friendship are closely intertwined with the political games.

We could only add that the performance will feature the recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Tatiana Tretiak as Amelia, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Gromov as Renato. The Honoured Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Koliadko will conduct.
