January. The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus congratulated the winners and participants of the traditional "Christmas Tree Decoration” contest for the fifth time. Amazing crafts decorated the Christmas tree in the foyer of the theatre.

 

January.  On the Eve of the Old New Year the Big New Year's Ball took place for the 10th time. Traditionally, the BelSwissBank JSC awarded New Year’s theatre prizes at the ball. The prizes went to the opera soloist Tatyana Gavrilova, principal dancer Viktoryia Trenkina, corps de ballet dancer Diana Lysenko, orchestra musician Regina Sarkisova and chorus artist Andrey Sidko.

 

January. The Honoured Artist of Ukraine, soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine Hennadii Vashchenko performed the role of Renato in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera.

 

January. The Honoured Artist of Russia and soloist of the Novaya Opera Mikhail Gubsky appeared in the role of Herman in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades.

 

February. Verdi’s Aida was dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the outstanding theatrical set designer of the People's Artist of Belarus Eugene Chemodurov.

 

 

February. Bizet’s Carmen was dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the legendary singer People's Artist of the USSR Larisa Alexandrovskaya. She is the first Carmen of the Belarusian stage.

 

February. The tenor of Mariinsky Theatre Honoured Artist of Russia Akhmed Agadi performed the role of Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto.

 

February. Vladimir Ovodok conducted Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci for the first time.

 

February. Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake was dedicated to the memory of the outstanding violinist People's Artist of Belarus Lev Gorelik, who would have turned 90 years old.

 

February. The soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Stanislav Trifonov became the winner of the Republican contest "Person of the Year of Culture" in the nomination "Musical art" and the principle dancer Irina Eromkina won in the nomination "Choreographic Art".

 

February. The famous Italian tenor Alberto Profeta performed the role of Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca.

 

February. The Symphony orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre toured in cities of Germany and Switzerland.

 

February. Ballet company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus went on tour to one of the most beautiful countries in the world – Mexico.

 

March. Mikhail Pandzhavidze celebrated his 50th anniversary. On this day, his pre-show meeting with admirers, spectators and media representatives took place!

 

March. La Traviata was dedicated to the memory of director Andrejs Žagars.

 

March. Irina Eromkina received the honourary title "People's Artist of Belarus".

 

March. The building of our theatre turned 80!

 

March. The guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Mykhailo Malafii performed the role of the poet in love in Puccini’s La bohème.


April. Die Fledermaus appeared in the calendar of the theatre.

 

April. The grand European tour "The World of Hans Zimmer. A Symphonic Celebration" lasted the whole month. The orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus took part in this tour.

 

April. Mykhailo Malafii appeared at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus again. On 21 April the Ukrainian tenor performed the role of Riccardo in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera.

 

April. "Opera voices of Belarus" performed in Moscow. In April the concert featuring Anastasia Moskvina, Vladimir Dmitruk and Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich took place in the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.

 

April. The revival of the legendary Georges Bizet and Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite staged by Valentin Elizariev took place at the Belarusian Bolshoi.

 

April. The Russian bass Oleg Didenko performed the role of King René in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta.


 

May. The ballet company of the theatre performed Khachaturian's Spartacus staged by Valentin elizaryev at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

 

May. Ballet dancers of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus took part in the 6th Silk Road International Arts Festival in China for the first time.

 

May. The large-scale concert dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the composer Stanisław Moniuszko was held at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

 

May. The Honoured Artist of Russia Mikhail Gubsky appeared on the Belarusian stage in the role of Herman in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades.

 

 

May. Yaroslava Kozina (France) and Francesco Medda (Italy) will perform the lead roles in Carmen.


 

May. The Open Day was held at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus for the fifth time. About 5 000 spectators came to congratulate their beloved theatre!

 

May. On 30 May Anastasia Moskvina and Oksana Volkova’s concert took place on the main stage.

 

June. The title role in Rigoletto was performed by the Russian baritone Sergei Moskalkov.

 

June. In Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades performed the soloist of the Odessa Opera Eduard Martynyuk, who more recently was a tenor of the Belarusian Bolshoi.

 

June. The opera soloist Marina Aksentsova celebrated the "Jubilee among Friends" in the chamber hall of the theatre.


 

June. “Evenings of the Bolshoi Theatre at the Radziwill Castle” took place in Nesvizh for the 10th time. The festival gathered more than 3,500 guests over three days.

 

June. The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus welcomed the Flame of Peace of 2nd European Games.



June. The international festival Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi took place for the 6th time.


 

June. The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus dedicated the performance Romeo and Juliet to the anniversary of the outstanding ballerina People's Artist of Belarus Inessa Dushkevich.

 

June. The audience of the Belarusian Bolshoi heard music of Hollywood for the first time. The programme included musical hits by John Williams.




August. The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus took part in the Pafos Aphrodite Festival in Cyprus for the first time. Our artists performed Verdi’s Macbeth.

 

September. The chief set designer of the theatre Alexander Kostyuchenko passed away.

 

September. The premiere of Female generals of the Yang family took place on the stage of Bolshoi Theatre within the Days of Culture of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus.

 

September. The 87th season of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus started with the new production of Borodin's Prince Igor.


 

September. The theatre opened an exhibition dedicated to the People's Artist of the USSR, composer and teacher Eugeny Glebov.


 

October. On 1 October the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus celebrated the 40th anniversary of her artistic career.


 

October. Verdi’s Aida dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the People's Artist of the USSR and outstanding singer Svetlana Danilyuk took place at the theatre.

 

October. On 18 October within the project "Autographs and images" the unique evening in memory of the famous ballerina Maya Plisetskaya took place at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.




October. Sven Helbig presented the amazing programme for chorus and electronic instruments on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus as part of his European tour.

 

October. The stars of world opera Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov performed in the Bolshoi Theatre for the first time.


 

October. People's Artist of Belarus Anastasia Moskvina opened the Festival in honour of the legendary opera singer in Krasnoyarsk ( in the birthplace of Dmitry Hvorostovsky).




October. In early October the #ARTforHealth campaign was launched in the Belarusian Bolshoi.




November. Belarus' Culture Minister Yuri Bondar introduced the new General Director Alexander Petrovich to the team of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

 

November. The principal dancer of the Kazan Opera and Ballet Theatre, the main character of Ralph Fiennes’ film The White Crow and face of the #ARTforHealth campaign Oleg Ivenko came to Belarus to support people living with HIV and gave a master class for theatre artists.




November. Anna Karenina based on the famous novel by Leo Tolstoy appeared in the repertoire of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

 

November. A new production by choreographer Radu Poklitaru took place at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. Ballet Viy is a mystical story based on Nikolai Gogol’s novella.

 

November. The famous ensemble "Khoroshki" celebrated its 45-year anniversary on the stage of our theatre.



November. The role of Don Pasquale in the eponymous Donizetti’s opera was performed by the famous bass-baritone Noé Colín.




December . The audience saw a choreographic parable about love Orr and Ora. People and Birds dedicated to the World AIDS Day on the stage of the theatre. The Rudolf Nureyev Foundation presented an exposition of unique photographs of the legendary dancer from the collection of the French Museum.





December. The premiere of the new version of Petrov's ballet The Creation of the World staged by Valentin Elizariev took place.


 

December. The Gala concert of the Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition winners took place at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

 

December. The 10th Opera Forum brought together 130 guests from 16 countries. The national Opera of Ukraine performed on the stage of the theatre for the first time.

  

 

December. The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus traditionally finishes the year with gala concerts featuring the leading opera and ballet soloists of the theatre.
