Nadine Koutcher in the role of Violetta

 

It was her debut role at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. In the future, the singer brilliantly performed this role at other venues, including China (Beijing), Germany (Berlin), Santiago (Chile). On 5 October Nadine Koutcher will appear in the Andrejs Zhagars’ production at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. She made her debut as a soloist of the opera house on 24 September, performing the role of a solo soprano in the vocal and choreographic production Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

 

Nadine Koutcher is loved and honoured in Minsk. In recent years she has delighted Minsk residents with her performances both in the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society and in the Bolshoi. And on our stage the audience remembers her participation in the gala concerts of the Christmas Opera Forum (she perform the role of Marfa in The Tsar's Bride and the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte).

 

Nadine was born in Minsk. She graduated with distinction from the Mikhail Glinka Minsk Music College in 2003 (Musicology) and The Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory in 2011 (Solo Singing, class of the Professor Tamara Novichenko and the chamber class of Kira Izotova). Among Tamara Novichenko’s famous graduates were Anna Netrebko, Veronika Dzhioeva, Galina Shoydagbaeva.

 

She is a winner of many international competitions and festivals. Her prizes include grand, audience and Hieronymus Bosch prizes at the International Vocal Competition's-Hertogenbosch (the Netherlands, 2012); second prize at the Larisa Aleksandrovskaya International Singing Competition (Belarus, 2012); first prizes at the Maksim Mikhailov Competition of Young Opera Singers (Russia, 2011), Bibigul Tulegenova Vocal Competition (Kazakhstan, 2007), St Petersburg Competition of Opera Singers (Russia, 2007), but for viewers, one of her most important victories was the grand prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World (the UK, 2015).

 

In 2012 she was invited as a soloist of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. Nadine Koutcher participated in many Teodor Currentzis’ projects. She has received the Golden Mask Theatre Award twice: for the roles of Medea in Pascal Dusapin’s Medeamaterial (2013) and Dona Isabel in Henry Purcell's The Indian Queen (2015). Together with Currentzis and music Aeterna Orchestra she recorded two CDs for Sony Classical: Rameau: The Sound of Light, where they performed Jean-Philippe Rameau's works in 2012 and Les Noces by Igor Stravinsky in 2013.

 

Her repertoire there includes Countess Rosina Almaviva in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro; Musetta in Giacomo Puccini’s La bohème;  Violetta in Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata; the Fairy Godmother in Jules Massenet’s Cendrillon, or the Tale of Cinderella; Olympia in Jacques Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, etc. For the role of Elvira in Vincenzo Bellini’s I Puritani at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile Nadine Koutcher was awarded the critics ' prize "Best female role in opera".

 

On 5 October Verdi's opera will feature the recipients of the Franсysk Skaryna Medal, winners of international competitions Yuri Gorodetski as Alfredo and Ilya Silchukov as Germont. Dmitry Matvienko will conduct.
