The Nutcracker. Gift to the Audience

Winter is the very time when the charming Tchaikovsky’s music sounds from the theatre stage. The Belarusian Bolshoi Theatre makes a gift to the audience. On 22 January an additional performance of The Nutcracker will take place.

Pyotr Tchaikovsky's fairy-tale ballet staged by conductor Alexander Anissimov, choreographer Valentin Elizariev, and set designer Eugene Lysik appeared on the stage of the Bolshoi theatre of Belarus in 1982. And now in October 2020 the ballet returned – in the new master’s version. Elizariev has repeatedly admitted that he worked on this ballet with abandon, he saw the first act of the production... in a dream. And the audience always followed the brilliant choreographer with the same enthusiasm, trusting him completely, plunging into this fairy tale, into the fantastic Lysik’s worlds, into the incredible beauty of Tchaikovsky's music.

For the People's Artist of Belarus Irina Eromkina the role of Masha is special. She had dreamed of it since childhood. (On 22 January Irina will dance on the Bolshoi stage.) Tatsiana Ulasen together with Ihar Matskevich will appear in the "golden" image of a Persian Doll. The alluring oriental dance has always delighted the audience, who vainly try to unravel its mystery.

On 22 January the performance will feature Irina Eromkina as Masha, Oleg Eromkin as Prince, Konstantin Geronik as Drosselmeyer, the Mouse King, Karina Malakhovskaya as the Nutcracker, Tatiana Dubatovka as the Mouse, Ksenia Rzhevskaya as the Princess, Valeria Grudina and Egor Azarkevich (Spanish dolls), Tatsiana Ulasen and Ihar Matskevich (Persian dolls), Anastasia Bulavik and Takatoshi Machiyama (Japanese dolls), Aleksandra Chizhik and Anton Kravchenko (Russian dolls), Darya Miadouskaya and Taro Kurachi (French dolls). Ivan Kostyakhin will conduct.
