Ball-2021. Done

It is the 12^th time that the Bolshoi held a New Year’s Ball on the night of January 13^th/14^th. In the new format.Those who decided to take part in the main programme of the ball and attend the rehearsals since the end of October were able to dance on the main stage of the theatre and perform eight dances: polonaise, country dance, three different waltzes, polka, French and Virginia quadrilles. Such a programme was prepared by the Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus choreographer Yuliya Dziatko. The leading soloist of the theatre Nadzeya Filipava was an assistant. By the way, it was the fifth jubilee ball for Yuliya and of course it was special.  The main dance programme of the ball was interspersed with impressive vocal and ballet numbers performed by the theatre’s stars. In other words, the participants had a unique opportunity to be on the same stage with the renowned masters of the Bolshoi. Elena Shvedova, Elena Zolova, Elena Tabolich, Tatyana Gavrilova, Andrei Valentii, Yuri Gorodetski, Vladimir Gromov, Alexander Mikhniuk, Alexander Zhukov, Darya Miadouskaya, Tatsiana Ulasen, Liudmila Ulantsava, Artem Bankovsky, Ihar Matskevich, ballet dancers and chorus (chief chorusmaster: Nina Lomanovich) gave the audience a real holiday. The ball was conducted by Ivan Kostyakhin and directed by Natalia Kuzmenkova.

At 11 pm people did not even think to finish the holiday. The musicians of the orchestra moved to the foyer of the theatre to perform an incendiary programme conducted by Aleh Lessoun. The audience danced waltz, polka, gallop, tango, jive, twist and even sirtaki. Olga Malinouskaya and Dzianis Yantsevich, Klavdiya Potemkina and Andrey Logvinov, Tatiana Tretiak, Aksana Yakushevich, Alexander Mikhniuk, Alexander Krasnodubsky, Elena Salo, Marina Likhosherst, Yuri Gorodetski, Vladimir Petrov, Tatiana Gavrilova, Inna Rusinovskaya, Elena Zolova, Alexey Mikutel, Dmitry Shabetya performed on the stage. The main hit of the New Year – the song “Happy New Year”– was performed by all the participants of this concert to the sound of firecrackers and applause of the guests.

The chamber hall on this festive night turned into the “Pub “On two chairs” – this New Year's programme was offered to the audience by director Elena Medyakova. The soloists of the Bolshoi performed their favorite songs from movies together with the guests. 

It also wasn't bored in the foyer of the theatre (director of entertainment programmes in the foyer of the theater was Daria Potaturko). Interesting photo zones designed by Ekaterina Bulgakova were scattered around the foyer. Students of the University of Culture and Arts, as well as guys from the historical reconstruction club (headed by Yuri Ustinovich) helped to make the atmosphere even more colorful and memorable.

So, another page (the 12^th) has been turned in the history of the Big New Year's Ball in the Bolshoi. Many thanks to all-directors, artists, guests, audience-for the holiday!
