Rodion Pogossov in the Role of Onegin

 

 

Rodion Pogossov is the winner of the Bella Voce International Vocal Competition (1997) and the International Antonin Dvorak Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary. He graduated from the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music (class of Dmitry Vdovin), took part in master classes of outstanding masters Irina Arkhipova, Renata Scotto, Joan Dorneman, Lenore Rosenberg.

 

At the age of 19 he made his debut in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Papageno) on the stage of the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow. In 2000 he participated in the Lindemann Young Artist Program at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, with subsequent roles for the company including Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Dandini (La Cenerentola), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Silvio (Pagliacci) and Schaunard. He also performed at opera houses in Seattle, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, and Michigan. In 2002, he also made his debut at Carnegie Hall. Other engagements include Rossini’s Figaro for Hamburg State Opera, Bavarian State Opera and Los Angeles Opera, Posa (Don Carlos) and Valentin (Faust) for Hamburg State Opera, Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) for Glyndebourne Festival, Eugene Onegin for Welsh National Opera, Papageno for Los Angeles Opera, Don Giovanni for Oviedo Opera, Raimbaud (Le Comte Ory) for Seattle Opera, Lescaut (Manon Lescaut) for Bavarian State Opera, Silvio for Norwegian National Opera, Guglielmo for Spoleto Festival and Marcello (La bohème) and Papageno for Cincinnati Opera. And in 2018 he made his debut at the Covent Gardenin the role of Marcello in La bohème

 

Rodion Pogossov collaborates with conductors James Levine, Kent Nagano, Antonio Pappano, Roberto Abbado, James Conlon, Yves Abel, Sebastian Weigl, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Yevgeny Kolobov, Vladimir Spivakov, Vladimir Jurowski. He performs with leading Russian orchestras, for example, the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia.

 

Let us add that on 2 March the performance will feature the great artists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Elena Zolova (Tatiana), Oksana Volkova (Olga), Pavel Petrov (Lensky), Andrei Valentii (Prince Gremin). Nikolai Koliadko will conduct.
