On 11 June star of the Moscow Bolshoi Denis Rodkin will perform on the Belarusian stage. He will appear in the title role of Siegfried in Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. This production will open the festival Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi. Tickets already went on sale!

The audience missed this project so much. From 11 to 17 June, the main stage of the Bolshoi will be at the mercy of the muse Terpsichore. His Majesty the Dance will reign for a week at the theatre: for the 7th time, the Ballet Summer Festival will be held here. Traditionally, the audience will see only ballet premieres, which delighted the audience during the year.

An absolute novelty Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky will open the “Summer”. (Yes, we're gonna have the premiere of the legendary work.)  ‘I will try to create a more unified, harmonious philosophy very subtly and delicately, without interfering or destroying anything...’ Valentin Elizariev admitted. It was the artistic director of the Bolshoi People's Artist of the USSR who became the director of the ballet. The fairy tale will come to life on the Belarusian stage on 15 May. In the painting shop, people work on the sets, in the sewing shop talented craftswomen sew costumes for artists, in the rehearsal halls teachers and artists work on ballet making, carefully intertwining the threads of choreography by Lev Ivanov, Marius Petipa, Alexander Gorsky, Asaf Messerer and Valentin Elizariev. Conductor Vladimir Ovodok together with the musicians of the orchestra tries to read the genius Tchaikovsky’s music in a new way. By the way, the designer of the premiere ballet is a long-time friend of the Belarusian Bolshoi Vyacheslav Okunev, People's Artist of Russia. As a rule, the leading artists from other countries are invited to perform the title roles in the performances of the Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi. So, Erika Mikirticheva and Denis Dmitriev (Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre, Moscow), Oksana Bondareva, Ekaterina Borchenko (Mikhailovsky Theatre, St Petersburg), Igor Kolb (Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg), Anastasiya Shevchenko and Stanislav Olshansky (National Opera of Ukraine), Nino Samadashvili (State Ballet of Georgia), Alexandra Timofeeva ("The Kremlin Ballet") and many others performed the title roles of Odette/Odile and Siegfried in different years. On 11 June, the principal dancer of the Moscow Bolshoi Denis Rodkin and the leading ballet soloist of the theatre Eleonora Sevenard will appear on the Belarusian stage.

On 14 June, the Christmas fairy tale The Nutcracker will rush into the "Summer". In October 2020 Tchaikovsky’s ballet in new Elizariev’s version appeared in the repertoire of the theatre again. Elizariev has repeatedly admitted that he worked on this ballet with abandon, he saw the first act of the production in a dream. And the audience always followed the brilliant choreographer with the same enthusiasm, trusting him completely, plunging into this fairy tale, into the fantastic Lysik’s worlds, into the incredible beauty of Tchaikovsky's music.

On 15 June, the audience will hear again the brilliant Tchaikovsky – strong, powerful, emotional. Choreographer Olga Kostel presented her production of Anna Karenina based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy in November 2019 and each time the performance was sold out.

The next day, on 16 June, Peer Gynt (staged by Sergei Mikel) will take place. This production opened this 88th season. The world created 145 years ago by two Norwegian geniuses (playwright Henrik Ibsen and composer Edvard Grieg) will come to life on our stage.

The "Summer" will end with a gala concert of world ballet stars on 17 June. The audience is used to the fact that it is always a firework of the most diverse, but exceptionally bright numbers - both classical and modern choreography. Our favorite leading artists of the Belarusian ballet will perform on the stage. The programme will also feature guest soloists.  The concert will be directed by Olga Kostel.
