Dmitry Matvienko: the First!

We congratulate the conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Dmitry Matvienko on becoming the winner of the Nicolai Malko Competition for Young Conductors. This was announced on 12 June, Saturday. This evening in Copenhagen (Denmark), Dmitry competed with two other finalists- Chloé Dufresne from France and Linhan Cui from China. ‘I am happy!’ the Belarusian conductor did not hide his emotions after the award ceremony.

The famous international competition for young conductors (candidates must be between 20 and 35 years old) is held in Copenhagen by the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra in memory of conductor Nicolai Malko (1883-1961) every three years, since 1965. Dmitry Matvienko became the best of more than 600 applicants.

You can see the competition on the official website: www.malkocompetition.dk

You can see and hear Dmitry Matvienko on his native stage on 19 June. He will conduct Giuseppe Verdi's La traviata.
