To Mark Oleg Melnikov’s Jubilee

 

 

Oleg Melnikov is one of the most memorable artists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. The unique timbre, depth and intensity of his voice, acting charisma have never left the audience indifferent. In each role (Sparafucile, Konchak, the Old Convict, Salieri, Khovansky, Boris Godunov, Gremin, Don Basilio) the artist gets to the very essence of the image, thoroughly reveals the character of his character. He can confirm this on 11 November as he will perform the role of Malyuta. In honour of the double jubilee of the Honoured artist of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Melnikov The Tsar's Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov will take place on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. In July he turned 60, moreover, he has been serving the stage for 35 years, 28 of which he gave to the Belarusian one.

Oleg Melnikov graduated from the Odessa National Antonina Nezhdanova Conservatory in 1992. From 1986 to 1993, he was a soloist with the Odessa State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.He joined the opera company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in 1993.

Oleg Melnikov was a member of the council of the International Union of Music Workers of Russia, a member of the board of the Belarusian Union of Music Workers, chairman of the Belarusian Feodor Chaliapin Society, a chairman of the Feodor Chaliapin Singing Competition in Belarus. He is a regular participant of the Irina Arkhipova Invites Festival; in 2003, he received the Irina Arkhipova special prize and a silver medal for his interpretation of Boris Godunov in the eponymous opera by Modest Mussorgsky and his substantial contribution to education and enlightenment in Russia. The same year, he was awarded the title of the Man of the Year in the field of music. He regularly serves on the jury for the Mikhail Glinka International Vocal Contest in Russia and Belarus.

It remains to add that on 11 November Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar's Bride will feature Nastassia Khrapitskaya as Marfa (first performance), Stanislav Trifonov as Gryaznoy, Ekaterina Mikhnovets as Lyubasha, Andrei Valentii as Lykov, Andrei Matyushonok as Bomelius, Olga Malinouskaya as Domna Saburova (first performance), Elena Salo as Dunyasha, Marina Aksentsova as Petrovna, Ilya Pevzner as the Tsar's stoker, Elena Tabolich as the Maiden. Nikolai Koliadko will conduct.
