Dear friends! We are happy to announce the names of the guest artists of the Christmas Opera Forum 2021, which will be held at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus from 14 to 22 December.
The admirers of opera and our forum already know the whole programme. Of course, only premieres of the current season will be presented from 14 to 22 December. Samson et Delila by Camille Saint Saёns, which will open the festival of music at the Bolshoi, is the second work of the theatre's prima Oksana Volkova as a stage director. On 14 and 15 December, the performances will be conducted by Aleh Lessoun.
On 18 December, the winner of the National Theatre Award, Faust by Charles Gounod staged by Anna Motornaya, will be performed. Andrei Ivanov, the chief conductor of the Rostov State Musical Theatre, conducts.
On 19 December, the audience will see Giacomo Puccini’s mystical drama Le Villi. Fatum staged by Oksana Volkova, which is her debut with the Bolshoi as a stage director. Ivan Kostyakhin conducts.
On 21 December, the theatre presents Vladimir Soltan's King Stakh’s Wild Hunt, which has recently been given to a full house. Anna Motornaya’s second work with the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, based on the detective story of the same title by Vladimir Korotkevich. The performance will be conducted by Andrei Ivanov.
On 15 December, the role of Samson in the premiere production of the opera by Camille Saint Saёns will be performed by tenor Ivan Gyngazov, a soloist of the Helikon-Opera, guest artist of the Mariinsky, Mikhailovsky and Bolshoi Theatre of Russia.
On 17 December, the recital of the world opera star born in Minsk, luxurious mezzo Ekaterina Semenchuk (Mariinsky Theatre) will take place. The guest artist of the programme is the bass-baritone Maharram Huseynov, who is also the soloist of the Mariinsky. The concert will be conducted by Ayyub Guliyev, chief conductor and musical director of the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre (Baku), guest conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre.
On 18 December, the world-famous Belarusian baritone Vladislav Sulimsky (Mariinsky Theatre) will perform the role of Valentine in Faust by Charles Gounod. Recently, he brilliantly appeared in the title role in Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth on the Belarusian stage. And now Vladislav is coming back to Minsk to make his debut in Gounod's masterpiece.
By tradition, the music festival will end with a star gala. On 22 December, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Maharram Huseynov, Vladislav Sulimsky, soprano of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Venera Gimadieva, guest artist of the Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Goderdzi Janelidze (bass) will take part in the Christmas Opera Forum 2021 gala conducted by our old friend Gianluca Marciano, artistic director of the Al Bustan Festival in Beirut, Lebanon, and Suoni dal Golfo in Lerici, Italy.
