The Opera Forum is a true feast. Some of the brightest and most spectacular productions of the Belarusian Bolshoi and other theatres will be performed on our stage; some of the best opera artists will appear in the leading roles. Believe us, this year will be no exception. Friends, we invite each of you to plunge into the world of beautiful music, dramatic plots and strong voices.

The 12th Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum will be special for the very reason that we are waiting for two theatres at once.

On 13 December, Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin staged by the Moscow Musical Theatre Helikon-Opera will open our forum. Eugene Onegin is the bestseller of the opera world. More than one generation has been brought up on this music. This is a kaleidoscope of human emotions captured in a brilliant musical work. This is a series of tender feelings, intertwining of destinies, bitterness of defeat and joy of love… In a word, it is everything that everyone has been going through since the dawn of humanity. The legendary Stanislavsky’s performance, staged in 1922 by his students in Leontievsky Lane, found a new lease of life on the new stage of the Helikon-Opera…

The principal conductor of the Helikon-Opera Valery Kirianov will conduct.

‘This music was dictated to me by God. I just wrote it down on paper and brought it to the audience...’ On 14 December, Giacomo Puccini's fairy-tale story about the cruel Princess Turandot (an opera of incredible strength and beauty) will take place on the stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi.

In fabulous times, Princess Turandot lived in China. But she was as beautiful as merciless: she announces that if a man solves her three riddles correctly, she will marry him; but if he fails to do so, he will be put to death. Over the years, many unlucky souls will lose their lives. But one day the brave man appears, who risked putting his life on the line and unraveling the mystery of Turandot's petrified heart…

The soloist of the Helikon-Opera Ivan Gyngazov will perform this difficult role of Calaf. The soloist with Belarusian roots made his debut on our stage exactly a year ago. He appeared in the title role in Samson et Dalila staged by Oksana Volkova.

A long-standing friend of our theatre – the Honoured Artist of Azerbaijan, principal conductor and musical director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (Baku), guest conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre (St. Petersburg) Eyyub Guliyev will conduct.

The performance will feature the winner of international competitions Anastasia Malevich in the title role, the People's Artist of Belarus Anastasia Moskvina in the role of Liu, the People's Artist of Belarus Vasily Kovalchuk in the role of Timur.

The Astana Opera (Kazakhstan) will perform Rossini’s La scala di seta in Minsk. The plot of the opera will take the audience to the 18th century. Giulia will secretly marry her beloved Dorvil, who will get to his wife by a silk staircase, which she dropped from the window.
