‘Every musician has his own idea of the played music: tempo, character, nuances. In the score, for example, it says "fast", but everyone has a different "fast". The task of the conductor is to organize a process, which includes a large number of people, explain to everyone his tasks, captivate them and keep the situation under control during the performance. It's like the captain of a ship: the ship sails by itself, but someone has to be at the controls of a ship...’ Artem Makarov said in an interview.
