The Glinka Chelyabinsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre will perform in Belarus for the first time. The Russian team will present the premieres of the last seasons: Le Corsaire (5 and 6 July) and Un ballo in maschera (8 and 9 July).
In the Chelyabinsk theatre, the premiere of Le Corsaire took place in 2022. The legendary ballet has received a new interpretation. The choreographer, artistic director of the Chelyabinsk ballet company, People's Artist of Russia Yuri Klevtsov changed the libretto: new choreographic pieces appeared in the performance, as well as ... a new character: the leader of pirates Maria Lindsey, who really lived in the 18th century. Fate brings her to the main characters of the ballet: the corsair Conrad and his companion Birbanto. Sets, which were created according to the sketches of Dmitry Cherbadzhi, helps to fully immerse yourself in the pirate story.
On 5 and 6 July, Le Corsaire will take place on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
TheHonoured Artist of Russia, renowned director Irkin Gabitov, who has been working at the Mariinsky Theatre since 1988, was invited to Chelyabinsk to stage Giuseppe Verdi's Un ballo in maschera. The People's Artist of Russia Vyacheslav Okunev created the concept of the visual design of the production.
On 8 and 9 July, Un ballo in maschera will take place on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
