Mikhail Pirogov. New Roles

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mikhail Pirogov has delighted the Belarusian audience in the role of Calàf in Puccini's masterpiece Turandot and in the role of Herman in Tchaikovsky's mystical tragedy The Queen of Spades not once. This time the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Buryatia, guest soloist of the Novosibirsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre, Novaya Opera (Moscow) and the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, winner of the Golden Mask National Theatre Award and soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre (St Petersburg) will perform two new roles. We will hear Pirogov in the role of Radames in Verdi's Aida on 11 May and in the role of José in Bizet’s Carmen on 16 May.

‘I always try to follow the messages of my teachers to be as honest and open as possible, always devote myself completely, no matter how many viewers in front of you – three people or several thousand...’ Mikhail Pirogov admitted in an interview.

After music school in Ulan-Ude Mikhail studied at the St Petersburg Conservatory and in 2010 he joined the opera company of the Buryat Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. Then he worked with the Saratov, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet theatres.

His repertoire includes the roles of Cavaradossi in Tosca, Jose in Carmen, Vaudemont in Iolanta, Vladimir in Prince Igor, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Herman in The Queen of Spades, Manrico in Il trovatore, etc.
