The Belarusian audience has repeatedly applauded Mikhail Pirogov for the role of Calàf in Puccini's Turandot, the role of Herman in Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades, the role of Jose Bizet’s Carmen.
The Honoured Artist of the Republic of Buryatia, guest soloist of the Novosibirsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre, Novaya Opera (Moscow) and the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, winner of the Golden Mask National Theatre Award, soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre already performed the role of Radames on our stage. On 21 January, we will hear Mikhail Pirogov in Verdi's Aida again.
After music school in Ulan-Ude Mikhail studied at the St Petersburg Conservatory. In 2010 he joined the opera company of the Buryat Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. Then he became a soloist of Saratov, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk State Opera and Ballet Theatres. In 2022, the singer made his debut as Vaudémont in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, and appeared as Calàf in Puccini's Turandot on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus for the first time. His repertoire also includes the roles of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Alfredo in La traviata, the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, Canio in Pagliacci, Herman in The Queen of Spades, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Vladimir in Prince Igor, Manrico in Il trovatore, etc.
On 21 January, we will see a brilliant cast of Aida. The performance this evening will feature the winner of the Fransysk Skaryna Medal Tatiana Petrova in the title role, the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Aksana Yakushevich as Amneris, the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Valentii as Ramfis, the People's Artist of Belarus Stanislav Trifonov as Amonasro.
The principal conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Artem Makarov will conduct.
