September. Beginning

The Honoured Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Rylatko was happy to share his impressions of the premiere of The Maid of Orleans. This production will open the upcoming 93rd season of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus on 4 September. The next performance is scheduled for 5 September.

"Congratulations to the theatre on the high-class premiere! It was a pleasure to see Georgiy Isaakyan, full of vital energy and bright creative ideas, on our stage again. Many years ago, he conquered us with his exquisite minimalism and modern rendition of La bohème.

And now, for the first time, the complex choral opera The Maid of Orleans is in the theatre’s repertoire. The "delicate" orchestra conducted by the great master, maestro Artem Makarov, the soulful expressive performance of our brilliant chorus carefully constructed by Nina Lomanovich, together with the inventive set design largely determined the musical and aesthetic atmosphere of the production.

The theatre's first male cast, namely Andrei Valentii, Stanislav Trifonov, Vladimir Gromov and the theatre's new acquisition Kirill Panfilov, left a vivid impression. As always, Anastasia Moskvina was a gem. It fell to Daria Gorozhanko to fulfil Isaakyan's virtuoso idea.

The audience gave Daria the highest score with thunderous applause, first of all, for her captivatingly natural acting. It seemed that the time machine, into which the director lured us, might distance us from the idea of the Russian genius, but it turned out the opposite...

Many thanks to the theatre for the great event!"
