Nadine Koutcher

Guest soloist

Nadine was born in Minsk. She graduated with distinction from the Mikhail Glinka Minsk Music College in 2003 (Musicology) and The Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory in 2011 (Solo Singing, class of the Professor Tamara Novichenko and the chamber class of Kira Izotova). Among Tamara Novichenko’s famous graduates were Anna Netrebko, Veronika Dzhioeva, Galina Shoydagbaeva.

In 2007 she had opera debut in the Opera and Ballet Theatre of St. Petersburg Conservatory, she performed Marfa in The Tsar’s Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. During her studies at the Conservatory under the patronage of Sergey Stadler she took part in many projects, performing the roles of Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti, Maria in Ivan the 4th by George Bizet, Serafim in Christ on the Mount of Olives by Ludwig van Beethoven and soprano in Mozart’s Requiem.

In 2009 she started performing in The Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, her debut role was Violetta in Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. In the same theatre she performed other roles for lyrical and coloratura soprano, such as Princess Eudoxie in Galevi’s La Juive; Oscar in Giuseppe Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera. In 2010 in Beijing she gave her first solo concert, accompanied by the pianist Dmitry Pavliy.

Since 2012 she was invited as a soloist of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. Her debut role on the Perm stage was Marfa in The Tsar’s Bride. Her repertoire there includes Violetta in Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata; the Fairy Godmother in Jules Massenet’s Cendrillon, or the Tale of Cinderella; Brigitta in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta; Countess Rosina Almaviva in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro; Olympia in Jacques Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Golden Mask-2016 nominee). In 2014 she appeared as Yvette in the concert version of Mieczysław Weinberg’s The Passenger under the direction of Artyom Abashev and as Musetta in the concert version of Giacomo Puccini’s La bohème under the direction of Teodor Currentzis.

Nadine Koutcher participated in many Teodor Currentzis’ projects. She performed the roles of Medea in Pascal Dusapin’s Medeamaterial staged by Philip Grigoryan (2012); Dona Isabel in Henry Purcell's The Indian Queen directed by Peter Sellars at the Perm Opera and Madrid Teatro Real (2013); the Witch in Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (as part of tour ‘Perm, Berlin, Athens, Paris, Lisbon’, 2014); Countess Rosina in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (2014).

Together with Currentzis and music Aeterna Orchestra she recorded two CDs for Sony Classical: Rameau: The Sound of Light, where they performed Jean-Philippe Rameau's works in 2012 and Les Noces by Igor Stravinsky in 2013.

In 2014 Nadine has debuted in the role of Elvira in Vincenzo Bellini’s I Puritani at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile (with the conductor José Miguel Pérez-Sierra and the director Emilio Sagi).

In 2015 several foreign engagements took place. In September she made her debut in the role of Mathilde in Rossini’s William Tell in Grand Théâtre de Genève conducted by Jesus-Lopez Cobos and directed by David Pountney. In December Nadine took part in new production of La traviata in the role of Violetta at Staatsoper im Schiller Theater with maestro Daniel Barenboim and director Dieter Dorn.

Nadine Koutcher has received the Golden Mask Theatre Award twice: for the roles of Medea in Pascal Dusapin’s Medeamaterial in 2013 and Dona Isabel in Henry Purcell's The Indian Queen.

She is a winner of many international competitions and festivals. Her prizes include grand prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World (the UK, 2015); grand, audience and Hieronymus Bosch prizes at the International Vocal Competition's-Hertogenbosch (the Netherlands, 2012); second prize at the Larisa Aleksandrovskaya International Singing Competition (Belarus, 2012); first prizes at the Maksim Mikhailov Competition of Young Opera Singers (Russia, 2011), Bibigul Tulegenova Vocal Competition (Kazakhstan, 2007), St Petersburg Competition of Opera Singers (Russia, 2007), etc.

Since 2018 she is a guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
