Vytautas in Moscow

 

Honoured with the Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus ‘For Spiritual Revival’, the production is included into the programme of the Days of Culture of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation and will be shown at the Bolshoi Theatre.

Vytautas is a choreographic interpretation of the story about the establishment of the Belarusian statehood in the 14th-15th centuries and the antagonism of two legendary rulers, Vytautas and Jogaila, a story about love, betrayal, loyalty and courage.

Vytatutas, a ballet to the music by Vyacheslav Kuznetsov, premiered in September 2013 and immediately became a cultural highlight. The ballet based on the play Prince Vytautas by Aleksey Dudarev; the libretto for the choreographic interpretation was written by Aleksey Dudarev and Vladimir Rylatko. The other credits include the People’s Artist of Belarus Yury Troyan (choreography and staging), recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Vyacheslav Volich (musical director), laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus Ernst Heidebrecht (designer), Sergey Martynov (lighting designer).

The 21 June performance will feature the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Anton Kravchenko as Vytautas; winner of international competitions, recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Liudmila Khitrova as Anna; Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Eromkin as Jogaila, Aleksandra Chizhik as Jadwiga, soloists and artists of the ballet company, orchestra of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus. The performance will be conducted by the recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Vyacheslav Volich.
