Anel Rustemova

International ballet critics mark high professional level of the dancer, her wonderful ear for music, sense of rhythm, artistic perception, imagination, and suppleness.

A graduate of Almaty Choreographic College, today she is a principal of the Astana Opera. Still a student, she participated in different competitions, won titles and prizes, including second prize at the International Competition of Dance Schools in Siberia and the Prix de Lausanne International Competition for Young Dancers (Switzerland, 2004); certificate of the 10th International Competition of Ballet Dancers and Choreographers (Bolshoi Theatre, 2005), special mention for loyalty to classical traditions (Novosibirsk, 2002); grand prize at “The Fouettés of Artek” International Competition of Classical Dance (2002); second prize at the 6th Siberian International Competition of Dance Schools (Novosibirsk, 2005).

In 2006, she took the qualification enhancement course at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg. Her artistic career began at the Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, followed by her engagement with the metropolitan Kulyash Baiseitova National Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 2013, she joined the ballet company of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre «Astana Opera». Her repertoire with the theatre includes Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, Marie in The Nutcracker by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Her classical repertoire includes the roles of Medora in Le Corsaire by Adolphe Adam, Diana in La Esmeralda by Cesare Pugni, Gamzatti and Nikiya in La Bayadère    by Ludwig Minkus. She is flawless as Phrygia in Aram Khachaturian’s Spartacus, Zarema in The Fountain of Bakhchisarai by Boris Asafiev, Rose in Boris Eifman’s production of Rodin, Karagoz in the eponymous national ballet by Gaziza Zhubanova.
