Faces of Beauty

‘All of my artistic life I have devoted to the grand opera, so singing chamber music repertoire is a relatively new thing for me,’ says Tamara Glagoleva, whose recital we will hear in the Chamber Hall on 24 May.

When Tamara Glagoleva tried on a new role of the head of the Larisa Aleksandrovskaya Chamber Hall, she wanted the light and bright music to be performed on its small stage. This is probably due to the fact that the repertoire of the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus comprises exclusively dramatic parts: Abigail in Nabucco, Violetta in La traviata, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Aida in the eponymous opera by Giuseppe Verdi, Marfa in The Tsar's Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Cio-Cio-san in Madame Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini, and many others. ‘My desire was to create a Chamber Hall for 120 people, a cozy area where the audience would laugh more often than cry. I wanted the young directors to put on comic operas with funny and cheerful characters, I wanted to create a place where the spectators could rest,’ smiles Tamara.

On 24 May, Tamara Glagoleva invites the audience to her recital, which she called “Faces of Beauty”.

‘Initially I thought to dedicate the evening to Baroque music, but then I considered that such programme required a trained listener, and I wanted the concert to resound in the heart of most varied audience. Therefore, the chant on the evening will be... beauty. The beauty of art, says Tamara. ‘What is beauty? For me it is inextricably connected with kindness and is inseparable of the other. And the beauty of art, without a doubt, changes lives for the better.’

The piano part will be performed by the winner of international competitions Tatiana Ivanova. The concert will also feature Belarusian tenor Aleksey Mikutel and the great artists of the orchestra who always become a decoration of any chamber concert.
