In September the artistic director of ballet, People's Artist of Belarus Yury Trayan celebrates the 50th anniversary of his artistic life. The team of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus cordially congratulates Yury! We wish him inexhaustible energy, inspiration, new ideas and achievements!



From Richard to Johann
Batman will appear on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus! ‘This character must be in the new production of Die Fledermaus’ Hungarian director Kerényi Miklós Gábor, known as Kero, said. It is Kero, the artistic director of the Budapest Operetta and Musical Theatre, together with the principal guest conductor of our theatre Italian maestro Gianluca Marcianò, will lead the production team. The operetta of the waltz king Johann Strauss will appear in the calendar of the Belarusian Bolshoi in April 2019. The first rehearsals are scheduled for early March.



Heart Echoes: Anastasia!
On 30 and 31 October at the Bolshoi theatre of Belarus will be performed the story of Belarusian Joan of Arc Anastasia Slutskaya.



Minsk Singing Competition-2018
The Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition will take place at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus for the fifth time. The Minsk Competition is the only singing competition in Belarus, where participate not only young opera singers, but also successful artists. During 5 years our competition became known far beyond the neighboring and CIS countries.

 




Alexander Anisimov: ‘I've Always had Contact with the Theatre.’
Trained eye of the music admirer will easily find in our autumn calendar performances conducted by the People's Artist of Belarus Alexander Anisimov. In total he was the principal conductor of the theatre for two decades, that’s why many large-scale events in the history of our theatre are associated with maestro’s name. In this season maestro will work in the theatre again. He was appointed to the post of conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus and adviser to the general director on the prospects of musical development of the theatre.

Otar Dadishkiliani Turns 95!
In August the Honoured Artist of Russia and Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Otar Dadishkiliani marks his jubilee. Renowned choreographer, director, Otar Dadishkiliani worked in the Belarusian State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre from 1965 to 1975. He staged Alpine Ballad, The Chosen Woman, Till Eulenspiegel by Eugene Glebov, After the Ball by Heinrich Wagner, Romeo and Juliet by Sergey Prokofiev on Belarusian stage. Among his other productions on the Belarusian stage are Aram Khachaturian's Spartacus and Peer Gynt by Edward Grieg; Khovanshchina by Modest Mussorgsky, Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, The Mermaid by Alexander Dargomyzhsky, Iolanta and The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.



Andrei Valentii in the Role of Prince Gudal Almost Forced to Become an Atheist
The name of the Belarusian bass Andrei Valentii did not leave the front pages of the famous American publications for almost a month. The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal wrote about the soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. ‘After that, you can retire,’ Andrei joked in social networks. In late July and early August, Anton Rubinstein's The Demon was performed as part of the Summerscape Opera Festival at the New York Fisher Center. In the production of Thaddeus Strassberger the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus performed the role of Prince Gudal.



Mikhail Pletnev: ‘Anastasia Moskvina is my Iolanta’
In June, the Festival of Russian Culture was opened as part of the cross year of Russia and Japan in the huge Tokyo’s Suntory Hall. Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta was performed by the Russian National Orchestra (RNO) under direction of Mikhail Pletnev, as well as soloists from Russia, China, Japan and... Belarus. And Mikhail insisted that the title role should be performed by Anastasia Moskvina. ‘It is a real happiness when work with a musician of such a high level,’ the People's Artist of Belarus admitted.
