Requiem to Holocaust

This magnificent work will be performed with the assistance of the Embassy of Israel in Belarus on the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is annually celebrated on 27 January worldwide.

Requiem is the only large-scale vocal and symphonic work by Giuseppe Verdi, written in the genre of the funeral mass. The beauty, tragedy and high spirituality of Verdi's Requiem equals to the most famous masterpieces of world classics. The composer appeared in it as s brilliant opera master, turning the work into explicate musical piece, delighted both with its immensity and psychological subtlety. Seven parts of the great Requiem recreate the huge world of human experience, mystery of life and death.

On 27 January the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus will take part in memorial events dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day for the first time. And Maestro Amos Talmon will conduct our orchestra for the first time. Talmon started his career in 1999. In 2000 he launched the Music Angels Herzliya Foundation with the aim of supporting young Israeli soloists. In 2001 Talmon was requested to fill in the new Herzliya Center for performing Arts with classical music substance. Since then he has been in charge of the Grand symphonic series.

Maestro Talmon worked with many orchestras such as Israel Philharmonic, Prague Rardio Symphony orchestra, National Radio Company of Ukraine Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica d'Italia, Poznan Philharmonic, Wroclaw Philharmonic, Baltic Philharmonic Gdansk, Polish Radio Symphony Warsaw.

His repertoire includes pieces from different periods: the symphonies of Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn, Don Giovanni and Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Gioachino Rossini, Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti, A German Requiem by Johannes Brahms, La traviata, Un ballo in masсhera, Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, orchestral pieces by Antonin Dvořak, Robert Schumann and Pyotr Tchaikovsky etc.

The Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi will feature the People's Artist of Belarus and laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus (soprano),  winner of international competition Natalia Akinina (mezzo-soprano), winner of international competition Alexander Mikhniuk (tenor), winner of international competitions Oleg Budaratsky (bass; Russia), chorus and orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. The chief chorus master is the People's Artist of Belarus and laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus Nina Lomanovich.
