Akhmed Agadi in the role of Radames

Aida is the pearl of any theatrical repertoire. This opera really became a favorite performance of the audience since it was performed on the stage in Cairo in 1871 and then in Milan. According to the Egyptologist Auguste Mariette, ‘opera of the pharaoh’s days’ is based on the real story. He is the one, who dug up the story in the ancient papyrus, and then librettists Antonio Gislanzoni and Camille du Locle seized it.

On 5 April Honoured Artist of Russia, People’s Artist of Tatarstan, winner of Russia’s Golden Mask Theatre Award, one of the most famous and in-demand tenors of the world, guest soloist of the Belarusian Bolshoi Akhmed Agadi will perform the role of Radames in the grand opera Aida by Giuseppe Verdi.

Future leading tenor of Mariinsky Theatre started to learn music only after 20. Young Agadi has sung and danced since he was 5. But as a child he never thought that he needs teachers for these classes. After school he joined the army, where people saw in him, or rather heard the soloist of a military orchestra. And only then Agadi tried to enter the Novosibirsk Conservatoire. But none of the teachers wanted to take as a student no longer a young man, who had never studied music before. Although for sure many of them later regretted. Akhmed enrolled at the vocal department of the music school in Novosibirsk - and three years later began to sing so beautifully that he was taken to the Moscow Conservatory. (And this is when the contest more than 100 people in place!). It is interesting, that during his studies, Akhmed often worked in the cinema on Arbat. Before each session he sang romances to the delight of the audience. In the Russian capital he stayed for a long time, after graduating from the conservatory he shone on the stage of Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre for 11 years. And then he became the star of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. Now he performs on the most famous opera venues in Russia, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Latvia, Argentina and Turkey, Germany, Romania, etc.

His repertoire includes the roles of Alfredo Germont in La Traviata, Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, Don Carlo in Don Carlo, Radames in Aida, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni José in Carmen, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Rodolfo in La bohème. And yet on 5 April Agadi will appear on Belarusian stage in the role of Radames. ‘His endlessly beautiful voice, the voice with a tear, is the real decoration of the performance,’ critics write about this role of the leading tenor of Mariinsky Theatre. And Akhmed Agadi often stressed: ‘On the stage I sing what I feel. I get into character and do not even think that here I need to sing "so", and then "so". Voice flows from the very depth of the soul...’
On 5 April we can see the brilliant cast of soloists: the laureate of international competition Ekaterina Golovleva in the role of Aida, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Oksana Volkova in the role of Amneris, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Valentii in the role of Ramfis, People's Artist of Belarus Vladimir Petrov in the role of Amonasro, laureate of international competition Dmitri Kapilov in the role of the King of Egypt.
