On 14 February Riccardo Muti’s student Vladimir Ovodok will conduct Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
When maestro Riccardo Muti decided to open his own school (Italian Opera Academy) in Ravenna, there were many people who wanted to get there. And only 10 persons were chosen out of 200. Among these 10 persons was Vladimir Ovodok. There he assisted maestro Muti during the production of the opera Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi. Two years later, in 2017, Ovodok became the musical director of the Ravenna Festival directed by Cristina Mazzavillani Muti (operas Tosca, Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana).
Currently Vladimir Ovodok is the artistic director of the Symphony Orchestra of the National Television and Radio Company, piano and conducting teacher at the Belarusian State Academy of Music.
We just want to add that on 14 February the performance will feature People’s Artists of Belarus Anastasia Moskvina as Nedda and Sergey Frankovsky as Canio, Honoured Artists of the Republic of Belarus Stanislav Trifonov as Tonio and Vladimir Gromov as Silvio, winner of international competitions and recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Yuri Gorodetski as Beppe.
