On 12 February the guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, winner of international competition Eduard Martyniuk will appear in Verdi’s Aida as the Captain of the Guard Radames. He is one of the most popular, bright and charismatic performers, whose name appears in the posters of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre, Teater Vanemuine (Tartu, Estonia), National Theatre of the Czech Republic, Hungarian State Opera, Zurich Opera House and the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. He is a singer of unique acting talent and an actor who has passed a serious vocal school of operetta and opera.

The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus gives the audience a real gift for Valentine's Day. On 14 February Riccardo Muti’s student Vladimir Ovodok will conduct Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci.

Our Children
The participants and winners of the “Christmas Tree Decoration” contest received memorable prizes. After that their toys decorated the Christmas tree in the theatre’s foyer and then went to the children's home №5 in Minsk to please the children, many of whom also take part in various creative contests. Fascinated by unusual crafts, the children promised to prepare toys for our theatre contest next year.


Visiting the Opera Fairy Tale
On 10 February the audience will be able to plunge into fairy tales and myths underpinning the most famous Russian and Western European operas on the small stage of the theatre.

 

Ukrainian Music: Golden Collection
People said that the world-famous George Gershwin’s song Summertime from the opera Porgy and Bess was written after the American composer heard the Ukrainian lullaby "The Dream Passes by the Windows". On 12 February Verdi’s Aida will be dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the outstanding theatre artist Yevgeny Chemodurov. In 1959-1976 he was the principal set designer of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

 

Unbreakable Union
British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan once said: "There are three organizations that no reasonable person will challenge. This is the Roman Catholic Church, royal guard and National Union of Mineworkers." Miners, perhaps, are not to be trifled with even without the cover of the trade union, but what should we do with those, whose work is not inferior to the work of miners, but the delicacy of the profession does not allow to wear yellow vests and knock helmets on the asphalt in the fight for their rights?
