Mykhailo Malafii in the Role of Rodolfo

In mid-February the guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Mykhailo Malafii performed the role of Rodolfo in La bohème on the stage of the Stockholm Opera House in Sweden. On 16 March he will also appear in this role in Pucchini's opera staged by Alexander Titel on our stage.

The Lviv tenor, guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, winner of first and audience prizes of the 2nd Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition, winner of the Competizione dell'Operа-2017 in Linz (Austria), lucky, who entered the top 40 (out of 1000!) in Plácido Domingo's Operalia Mykhailo Malafii will sing on the stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi again. And now he will perform in Giacomo Puccini’s La bohème.

‘The Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition became a kind of impetus in my artistic career. Then I made my debut in Rigoletto (Duke) and Eugene Onegin (Lensky) at the Belarusian Bolshoi … The experience I gained here at the Bolshoi theatre is incredibly important – and I continue to go further with this valuable background, performing at various opera venues around the world ...’– Mykhailo Malafii said.  Now I perform the role of Rodolfo in Puccini’s La boheme at the Royal Swedish Opera. Then I'm going to Hungary, where I will appear as Alfredo Germont in Verdi’s La traviata on the stage of the Budapest Opera House. Then I will try my hand at Verdi's Simon Boccanegra in Tel Aviv (Israel). And then again Verdi, this time Don Carlos is waiting for me at the Graz Opera (Austria)… My schedule is over two years long. But I say with confidence: Minsk is my second home. But can safely say Minsk is my second home. The Belarusian opera is incredibly lucky to have good singers. I’m really happy to work with them. No matter how many times I performed in Minsk, there was always a wonderful partner who set the right impulse, made me burn in my character, and therefore give my heart, my soul, my world to the audience. Let's face it: I am lucky, because my colleagues, as a rule, were charming Belarusian sopranos. (smiles)

We will add that on 16 March production of the Russian director Alexander Titel will feature Marta Danusevich as Mimi, Andrey Klipo as Marcello, Alla Guba-Ploskina as Musetta, Andrei Seliutsin as Colline, Sergey Lazarevich as Schaunard. Maestro Viktor Ploskina will conduct.
